  • Patent number: 9157241
Abstract: A tile made of a tile body and, joined to a face thereof, a layer of damping material conferring vibratory energy dissipation properties on the tile.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 2009
Date of Patent: October 13, 2015
    Assignee: SAINT-GOBAIN WEBER FRANCE
Inventors: Pierre Boyadjian, David Fournier, Serge Rimlinger, Michele Curt, Cedric Chaveyriat
  • Patent number: 8900691
Abstract: A method for selecting a viscoelastic plastic interlayer including two outer layers and a central layer. The interlayer is for incorporation between two glass sheets of a glazing unit. The method of selection includes providing first and second components respectively as the central layer and the outer layers, and measuring the shear modulus G? of the first and second components. The material of the second component is selected only if G? is a certain value at a specific temperature and frequency range. The thickness h of the first component is set so that h is a specific value and so that g=G?/h is within a specific range of values at a specific temperature and frequency range. The method optimizes the damping of the second and third natural frequencies of a vehicle windshield without weighing down the windshield.

    Inventors: Marc Rehfeld, Pierre Boyadjian
  • Patent number: 8066097
Abstract: An acoustic enhancement device adapted for being placed on a support and under a covering, and containing a first flexible layer adapted for being placed facing the support, a second rigid layer joined to the first flexible layer and adapted for being placed opposite the support, and a damping element, wherein the damping element is integrated in the second rigid layer or forms a third layer placed on the second rigid layer and opposite the first flexible layer.

  • Publication number: 20100295331
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for selecting a viscoelastic plastic interlayer comprising two outer layers and a central layer and intended to be incorporated between two glass sheets of a glazing unit, the method comprising the following steps: first and second components intended to constitute respectively the central layer and the outer layers are provided; the shear modulus G? of the first and second components is measured; the material of the second component is selected only if G??3×107 Pa at 20° C. and between 100 Hz and 240 Hz; and the thickness h of the first component is set so that h?0.3 mm and so that g=G?/h is between 8×108 Pa/m and 2.67×109 Pa/m at 20° C. and between 100 Hz and 240 Hz. The invention makes it possible to optimize the damping of the second and third natural frequencies of a vehicle windshield without weighing down the windshield.
