Patent number: 10166483Abstract: A trapdoor mechanism and method of providing a trapdoor mechanism for initiating descent into a slide ride is disclosed. Aspects of invention are directed to an energy efficient mechanism capable of dropping slide riders into the entrance of a slide ride. The trapdoor mechanism utilizes momentum produced by the force of gravity to swing the trapdoor to an open position, to a closed position, and back to the open position. A control device may be utilized to apply force to the trapdoor during its transit between the open position and closed position.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2012Date of Patent: January 1, 2019Assignee: WHITEWATER WEST INDUSTRIES LTD.Inventor: Daniel Pierre Brassard

Patent number: 9958232Abstract: An inventive mechanism includes stationary, reciprocating, winch, and stock subassemblies. The winch subassembly is mounted on the stock subassembly; the stationary subassembly is mounted at the rear of a slotted mainframe of the stock subassembly; the reciprocating subassembly moves along the mainframe between forward brace and rearward drawn positions. The winch subassembly takes up a rope to cause rearward movement of the reciprocating subassembly and lets out the rope to permit forward movement. The reciprocating subassembly includes a body engaged with the slot, a catch, and a sear. The stationary subassembly includes a trigger and an actuator. In the drawn position and retaining a bowstring, trigger movement causes actuator movement, which causes sear movement, which permits catch movement, which releases the bowstring. In its latched position, a trigger latch obstructs forward movement of the reciprocating subassembly from the drawn position; in its unlatched position, it permits that forward movement.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2017Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: EXCALIBUR CROSSBOW, INC.Inventors: Kyle William Egerdee, Stephen Donald Langdon, Benjamin Dean Blosser, Daniel Pierre Brassard

Publication number: 20130237333Abstract: The present disclosure provides a waterslide comprising an upstream flume segment having a first cross-section, the upstream flume segment defining a first slide path, and a downstream flume segment having a second cross-section different than the first cross-section, the downstream flume segment defining a second slide path. The waterslide further comprises an angled transition linking the upstream flume segment to the downstream flume segment, wherein the angled transition defines a discontinuity between the upstream and downstream flume segments, thereby defining an inflection between the first and second slide paths.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2013Publication date: September 12, 2013Inventor: Daniel Pierre Brassard

Patent number: 8197353Abstract: The present disclosure provides a waterslide comprising at least one twisted flume segment, wherein the twisted flume segment defines a first open end and a second opposing open end rotated and translated with respect to the first open end. The present disclosure further provides a twisted waterslide flume segment and method for assembling the twisted waterslide flume segment. The twisted waterslide flume segment includes a plurality of adjacently disposed twisted flume sections, the twisted flume sections defining a first open end and a second opposing open end rotated and translated with respect to the first open end.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2009Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Whitewater West Industries, Ltd.Inventor: Daniel Pierre Brassard

Patent number: 4694284Abstract: The collar consists of two legs pivoted to each other at one end by a hinge member and releasably locked to each other at the other end by a key operated lock. The legs are made of shear-resistant material. A radio signal generating and transmitting device and autonomous power supply are housed within the collar. A trigger switch is closed to activate the device upon opening of a flap by the abducted collar wearer, and circuitry including a silicon controlled rectifier, causes activation of the transmitter and characterized by the impossibility of deactivation thereof, short of complete discharge of the power supply, as long as the lock locks the legs of the collar around the wrist, neck or ankle of the wearer.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Inventors: Serge Leveille, Jacqueline Cormier, Ginette Cormier, Pierre Brassard
