    Abstract: A method includes providing installation of safety equipment on the cable which takes over from original anchoring elements of the cable, in case the latter breaks. The safety equipment consists of a component (11) serving as hammer in the form of two half-shells, fixed on the cable (7), and a damping device (12) subject of the patent application FR-02 05105, in the form of a U-shaped or ohm-shaped gutter, which encloses the cable (7) and whereof the deformability corresponds to the variation in the length of the cable when its tension is released after breaking.
