  • Publication number: 20220273968
Abstract: An arrangement for a breathing apparatus, the arrangement comprising a breathing device; a primary connection point; a secondary connection point; a primary side; a secondary side; a first valve arranged between the primary connection point and the secondary connection point, the first valve being arranged to automatically close a first fluid connection between the primary connection point and the secondary connection point when a secondary pressure in the secondary side decreases below a first pressure threshold; and a second valve arranged on the secondary side, the second valve being arranged to automatically establish a second fluid connection between the secondary connection point and the breathing device when a primary pressure in the primary side decreases below a second pressure threshold. A breathing apparatus is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20070039617
Abstract: The invention concerns a system and a method for supplying breathing gas to a diver. The system is of the open circuit type and comprises a gas source consisting of a pressurized container (1), which is intended to be placed at a distance from the diver and which delivers breathing gas under a high pressure, a breathing apparatus (4) which is intended to be carried by the diver and a flexible tube (3), which connects the gas source with the breathing apparatus. The flexible tube is of the high-pressure type, the gas is conducted through the flexible tube under a pressure, which is essentially equal to the pressure delivered from the gas source, and the gas source is arranged to be able to deliver breathing gas at a pressure, which exceeds approx. 30 bars.

  • Patent number: 6105632
Abstract: A pressure reducing and filling valve combination for use in conjunction with gas bottles, particularly gas bottles that contain breathing gas under high pressure for use by underwater divers, firemen, etc. The valve includes a valve chamber and a spring-loaded valve slide movable in the valve chamber for reducing the pressure with the aid of the spring when gas is taken from the bottle for delivery to a part of the chamber. The pressure in this chamber part is held substantially constant at a level determined by the spring force. An external multi-purpose valve connector is adapted to connect the valve chamber to external equipment when gas is consumed. When filling the bottle with gas under high pressure, the valve delivers gas to the bottle via the same passageway as that through which gas was delivered to the valve chamber in response to gas consumption.

  • Patent number: 6102034
Abstract: Breathing equipment including a breathing hood to surround a wearer's head. An inner mask covers at least the wearer's mouth and nose. The equipment includes a breathing gas delivery conduit and structure to permit gas to pass from the hood to the mask. A check valve allows gas to pass from the mask to the surroundings when overpressure in the mask has reached a given value. The breathing gas is delivered to the hood and the gas passing structure permits gas to pass in both directions between the hood and the mask. The gas passing structure requires a lower overpressure in the mask for passage of gas from the mask to the hood than the pressure required for the check valve to release gas to the surroundings.

  • Patent number: 5813400
Abstract: Breathing equipment for use under water, or in a non-respiratory atmosphere, and including a breathing mask (1), a mouth-piece or the like, and a respiratory circuit (2) with a volumetrically variable gas accumulator (7). In addition, there is included a metering bottle (26) connected to the respiratory circuit via a valve device (12), which alternatingly connects the bottle to a source (9) of fresh respiratory gas for filling the bottle and to the circuit for emptying the bottle. The valve device (12) is adapted to regulate filling and emptying the bottle (26) in response to the respiratory cycle, such that fresh respiratory gas is supplied to the circuit (2) during each such cycle. The device (12) is suitably implemented so that the amount filling the metering bottle (26) is adjusted in response to respiratory volume.

  • Patent number: 4887638
Abstract: A pressure regulator has a first and a second chamber which are separated by a movable piston varying the size of the chambers and which are in fluid contact with one another through a channel extending in the movable piston. The piston has a greater pressure surface area in the first chamber than in the second chamber. A high-pressure chamber beneath the bottom of the second chamber, has an aperture disposed in the bottom of the second chamber. A valve seat is disposed in the second chamber and cooperates with the movable piston to form a throttle between the high-pressure chamber and the second chamber. A high-pressure piston disposed in the high-pressure chamber projects into the second chamber through the first aperture and is displaceable in its longitudinal direction therethrough. A second aperture is provided at the end of the high-pressure piston which faces the second chamber. Also, a channel in the high-pressure piston extends from the second aperture throughout the entire high-pressure piston.
