Abstract: Detergent compositions, preferably heavy-duty liquids, containing an anionic surfactant, a selected consurfactant and a fatty acid are disclosed. The compositions are formulated to provide an initial pH of from about 6.0 to about 8.5 at a concentration of from about 0.1% to about 2% by weight in water at 20.degree. C. The compositions preferably also contain ethoxylated nonionic surfactants, a detergent builder and enzymes.

Abstract: Liquid detergent compositions, particularly for use as hard surface cleaners, comprising 1%-20% surfactant, 0.5%-10% mono- or sesquiterpenes, and 0.5%-10% of a polar solvent having a solubility in water of from 0.2% to 10%, preferably benzyl alcohol. The compositions provide excellent cleaning of both greasy and particulate soils, improved surface appearance, excellent formulation homogeneity, stability and viscosity characteristics as well as good suds control.

Abstract: A textile treatment composition in emulsion form which is based on a mixture of cationic and nonionic softener includes an aromatic mono- or di-carboxylic acid as a viscosity modifier. The presence of a carboxylic acid such as benzoic acid or salicylic acid in emulsified mixtures of a di-higher alkyl quaternary ammonium salt and a nonionic material having at least one higher alkyl chain gives a significant increase in viscosity.

Abstract: Concentrated liquid fabric softeners containing a fabric substantive agent, inclusive of polyamines and alkylpyridinium salts, in conjunction with a fabric softening component, inclusive of quaternary ammonium salts; alkylimidazolinium salts; fatty esters; fatty ethers; and fatty compounds containing a sulfur or nitrogen linking atom, are disclosed. The subject concentrated softener compositions are easily dispersible in aqueous medium and thus can evenly deposit onto fibers to thereby provide textile handling benefits inclusive of softening, static control, ease-of-ironing, fluffiness, pliability and smoothness.

Abstract: Textile treatment compositions comprise a water-insoluble cationic fabric softener and C.sub.12 -C.sub.40 hydrocarbon, optionally together with a water-soluble cationic surfactant. In two component systems, the ratio of cationic softener to hydrocarbon is from 5:1 to 1:3. Preferred hydrocarbon materials have from 14 to 18 carbon atoms and with such materials, highly concentrated fabric softeners can be prepared.

Abstract: A textile-treating composition comprises a fabric-substantive cationic surfactant and a water-insoluble salt of a carboxylic acid having from 16 to 24 carbon atoms. Particularly useful water-insoluble salts are the calcium, aluminium or magnesium salts of stearic acid. Fabrics treated with the composition, either directly or in dilute aqueous solution, have enhanced softness and antistatic properties.

Abstract: A textile treatment composition comprises certain polyamine salts and nonionic fabric conditioning substances which are fatty acid esters of alcohols or anhydrides having up to 8 carbon atoms. Particularly useful polyamine salts have a higher alkyl substituent and have ethoxylate or polyethoxylate substituents on the nitrogen atoms. Glycerol stearates and sorbitan stearates are preferred nonionic agents. The highly charged cationic species provide an excellent carrier system to encourage deposition of the nonionic fabric conditioner on fabrics which are rinsed in dilute aqueous solutions of the composition.
