  • Patent number: 4015505
Abstract: A one sided or blind fastener assembly including a threaded fastener member inserted through a sleeve member having a tubular body, a head at the outer end thereof and a tapered inner end, and an expansion member including an internally threaded end portion adapted to be expanded as it is drawn up over the sleeve. Longitudinally extending ribs on the tapered end portion of the sleeve matingly engage longitudinally extending slots in the expansion member serving to confine the movement of the expansion member to an axial telescopic movement over the tapered sleeve portion. The upper edges of the expansion member are tapered inwardly toward the slots to enhance the clamping capabilities of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 3960191
Abstract: An attachment for a portable power screwdriver allowing a workman to drive screws from a stand-up position. A telescoping driving tube is associated with a power driver and the tube being joined to a feed tube in the region of a nose section. The feed tube includes an escapement device which is responsive to a reciprocating movement of a cam fixed on an upper driving tube portion relative to a lower driving tube portion to ensure a non-jamming feeding of fasteners to the nosepiece.

  • Patent number: 3935786
Abstract: A self-drilling and blind setting rivet assembly for power tool application to workpiece means including a hollow rivet sleeve with an enlarged head at one end. A mandrel with a drill point at one end positioned through the bore of the sleeve so that the drill point on the mandrel is positioned adjacent the end of the sleeve opposite the head portion. The mandrel shank will have a weakened portion of reduced cross-sectional area with the inner periphery of the sleeve and outer periphery of the shank including cooperating torque transmitting surfaces on either side of the weakened portion of the shank to allow torque to be applied directly to the shank with the torque transmitting means serving to bridge the weakened portion of the shank to enable the drill point to drill a hole and yet allow the shank to fracture upon appropriate tensile force during the setting operation.
