  • Patent number: 5412269
Abstract: An electrically motorized wheel assembly comprising a hollow shaft having a first opening at one end thereof and a second opening, the first opening receiving conductors from outside of assembly; a stator coaxial with and fixedly attached to the shaft; and a rotor coaxial with the stator and mounted for rotation about the stator, the rotor comprising a housing having a cylindrical wall having an inner surface provided with a magnetic means surrounding the stator and separated therefrom by an air-gap. The motorized wheel assembly also comprises a cylindrical filler made of a resilient material, the filler having a smooth outer surface and being waterproof, the filler being mounted around the housing, whereby the filler prevents presence of dirt and unwanted impurities between the housing and a rim fixed around an outer surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5323866
Abstract: A steering system used in a ground-engaged vehicle having independently motorized steerable wheels, where a steering assistance is provided by generating a differential torque in the motors for producing steering assistance forces, is disclosed. The steering assistance is provided, when a torque is applied on the steering wheel, by generating the differential torque by the motors and thus producing steering assistance forces due to virtual lever arms defined between the mean contact point of a wheel with the ground, and the virtual intersection with the ground of a prolongation of the pivot axis of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4958126
Abstract: A probe for spectrometric measurements of magnetic resonance at very high temperatures includes a resonator (3) within which is disposed a sample (9) to be analyzed. A laser beam from a laser (6) is conducted toward and focused upon the sample (9) for heating the same, and levitation of the sample (9) during measurement proceedings within the resonator (3), as a means of thermally isolating the sample (9) from its surroundings, is achieved by means of a levitation gas from a gas source (18) which is introduced into the resonator (3) by means of a constriction zone aperture (17) whereby the sample (9) is maintained within an upper cavity (16) of the resonator (3).
