  • Patent number: 4890634
Abstract: A framework forming support for a tent canvas of a light shelter which is stretched in substantially pyramidal form, abutting, at its center, on the top of a vertical central pole, comprises a rigid frame in the form of a regular polygon, defining the base of the pyramid and to the sides of which the canvas is hooked. The lower end of the central pole being is located at a level higher than the horizontal plane of the polygonal frame. The pole is maintained vertically by inclined rigid arms whose upper ends are rigidly coupled, in common, to the lower end of the pole. The lower ends of the arms are coupled to the sides of the polygonal frame, the points of connection of two adjacent inclined arms with two adjacent sides of the frame being symmetrical with respect to the bisectrix of the angle formed by these two sides. Crosspieces extend respectively across the angles of the frame, between points of hooking on the sides of the frame which are symmetrical with respect to the bisectrix of each angle.

  • Patent number: 4887626
Abstract: A device for securing the edge of a stretched sheet, applicable more particularly to securing the lower edge of a tent canvas of a light shelter of a general pyramidal shape, has a horizontal extruded section with a groove opening, in one of its vertical faces, through an inlet slit of a width less than that of the bottom of the groove. A locking rod is able to be engaged transversally in the groove, through its inlet slit, and to be immobilized therein so as to retain the edge of the sheet having a bead. The locking rod, in the locked position, is in a vertical position at right angles with respect to its position of insertion in the groove and it is jammed against the lower lip by a lower rounded part, joining together the internal and external faces of the rod, so that a tractive force exerted outwardly on the sheet does not allow the bead to escape from the groove.

  • Patent number: 4690161
Abstract: For mounting a light shelter of the type having a central pole which supports a cloth forming the shelter roof, the pole is placed flat on the ground with its lower end mounted for pivoting around a horizontal axis, the cloth is slipped over the pole, and the pole, carrying the cloth, is pivoted around said axis to vertical position. The device comprises a base for pivotally supporting the pole, a hoisting cable attached to the pole between the ends thereof, extending in a plane perpendicular to the pivot axis over support at a distance above the base, and being in engagement with a cable pulling device which in turn is anchored to the ground.

  • Patent number: 4637415
Abstract: A light shelter in the form of a tent, comprises a roof constituted by a canvas and a central pole in abutment on the ground and supporting the canvas at its central top. A plurality of tensioning arms whose inner ends are articulated about pins adjacent the pole, are provided for tensioning a cable housed in a hem extending along the lower peripheral edge of the canvas. A removable jack is also provided for varying the distance between the pins for articulation of the tensioning arms and the central top of the canvas. Each tensioning arm is connected, at its outer end, to the lower peripheral edge of the canvas by means of a hook engaged on the cable which freely supports the canvas.

  • Patent number: 4099351
Abstract: An inflatable and deflatable air supported structure which lies flat in its uninflated condition and has a substantially spherical shape in its inflated condition. The structure includes a wall formed from a sheet of flexible material having a first perimeter greatest in its flat condition, the peripheral edge of the perimeter in the inflated condition is rounded in shape and forms a second outer perimeter smaller than the first perimeter. A plurality of cables connected with the sheet extend from the peripheral edge to an inner central portion dividing the sheet into gores between each pair of adjacent cables. The outer ends of the cables extend from beyond the outer peripheral edge to the inner central portion. Two anchorings are provided. One anchoring connects the outer ends of the cables to the ground to connect the peripheral edge to the ground, and the other anchoring connects the cable's inner ends and the central portion to form an air-tight chamber with the flexible material inflated.
