  • Publication number: 20170217075
Abstract: A method for welding a heat shield during manufacturing of a vehicle component made from a thermoplastic material. The heat shield includes: a reinforcement layer made from a thermoplastic material which is weldable to the thermoplastic material of the vehicle component; and a heat shielding material that differs from the thermoplastic material of the reinforcement layer and is configured to decrease transfer of heat through the reinforcement layer to the vehicle component. The method includes: heating the heat shield to bring the thermoplastic material of the reinforcement layer in a molten state; placing the heated heat shield in a mold; bringing into the mold the thermoplastic material of the vehicle component in a molten state; welding the thermoplastic material of the reinforcement layer being in a molten state to the thermoplastic material of the vehicle component being in a molten state, by blow molding the vehicle component in the mold.

  • Publication number: 20160363028
Abstract: A heater for a plastic tank for storing urea. The heater includes a part and an electrical heating element. The part is fixed to the electrical heating element. The electrical heating element is surrounded by a plastic sheath. The part further includes a plastic material which is fusion bonded to the plastic sheath. The plastic material of the part is overmolded on the plastic sheath.

  • Publication number: 20160354957
Abstract: A method for producing a wall intended, for example, to form the wall of a tank, by pressure injecting a thermoplastic material into an injection mould, said wall comprising at least one localised reinforcing layer formed from reinforcing threads coated with a thermoplastic material compatible with the thermoplastic material forming said wall. The reinforcing layer is deposited in the injection mould at a temperature substantially equal to the ambient temperature of a workshop, and the injection temperature of the thermoplastic material forming the wall, the melting temperature of the thermoplastic material coating the reinforcing threads and the thickness of the reinforcing layer are adjusted such that the material coating the reinforcing threads is melted during the injection phase.

  • Publication number: 20160200189
Abstract: A method for assembling a tank, including: providing a plastic first shell, a plastic second shell with an opening, and at least one connecting member with a plastic end part configured to be arranged in or around the opening, the first and second shell delimiting an internal volume of the tank, and the connecting member being dimensioned for connecting the first and second shell in the internal volume of the tank; welding a circumference of the first shell to a circumference of the second shell; arranging the end part in or around the opening; and connecting the end part of the connecting member to a wall part of the second shell by heating an external area of the second shell surrounding the opening and/or by heating the end part of the connecting member.

  • Publication number: 20160052386
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fuel tank or filling pipe including a wall made of thermoplastics material and a fibrous reinforcement over at least part of the surface thereof, the method including: heating the fibrous reinforcement to bring the fibrous reinforcement into an at least partially molten state; introducing the heated fibrous reinforcement, and the wall in at least partially molten state, into a mold; and welding the fibrous reinforcement to the wall using pressure of a gas which inflates the wall and presses the heated fibrous reinforcement firmly against the wall in the molten state.

  • Publication number: 20150027633
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a hollow body including a thermoplastic wall and a fibrous reinforcement welded on at least one portion of the surface of the wall, or its outer surface, the fibrous reinforcement including a thermoplastic similar to or compatible with that of the wall of the hollow body, having a thickness of at least 1 mm and from 30 to 60% in weight of fibers, the method including heating a portion of the outer surface of the hollow body where the reinforcement will be welded; heating the fibrous reinforcement to soften or melt the thermoplastic of the reinforcement; and moving the reinforcement and applying the reinforcement to the portion of the outer surface of the hollow body. The applying the reinforcement includes: applying an initial pressure on at least one portion of the reinforcement; and applying pressure for a final welding using robotized pressure applying mechanism.
