  • Publication number: 20170012666
Abstract: A method is for processing an analog channel signal from a transmission channel. The analog channel signal conveys frames, the transmission channel being linear and cyclostationary for a duration of a frame. The method may include converting of the analog channel signal into a digital channel signal, and performing channel estimations for the frame based upon the digital channel signal to generate a sequence of N transfer functions of the transmission channel. Each of the sequence of N transfer functions may be respectively associated with N successive time slices. The method may include decoding at least some symbols of the frame using, for each of the symbols, a transfer function associated with a successive time slice including a respective symbol.

  • Publication number: 20160285509
Abstract: A method is for processing an analog signal coming from a transmission channel. The analog signal may include a useful signal modulated on a sub-set of carriers. The method may include analog-to-digital converting of the analog signal into a digital signal, and synchronization processing the digital signal. The synchronizing may include determining, in a time domain, a limited number of coefficients of a predictive filter from an autoregressive model of the digital signal, and filtering the digital signal in the time domain by a digital finite impulse response filter with coefficients based upon the limited number of coefficients to provide a filtered digital signal. The method may include detecting of an indication allowing a location in the frame structure to be identified, using the filtered digital signal and a reference signal.

  • Patent number: 9264098
Abstract: Process of assignment and deallocation of a correlation unit or finger of a rake receiver intended to treat a received signal of a wireless communication system characterized in that the assignment of a finger is ordered by a CPICH detector operating on the level of the frame of said signal and in that the deallocation of the same finger is controlled by the analysis of a criterion derived from the RSCP indicator calculated on the level of a slot of said signal. The invention also achieves a rake receiver for the implementation of the process.

  • Patent number: 9161315
Abstract: A wireless communication system includes a primary station which has a transmitter for transmitting wireless signals on a downlink, and a plurality of secondary stations each having a receiver for receiving signals on the downlink and a transmitter for transmitting on an uplink. In a normal, loaded condition a synchronization channel and a data channel are present on the downlink and closed power control is achieved by measuring the signal to interference ratio (SIR) in a received downlink transmission, comparing the measured SIR with a target SIR and sending a power adjust indication on the uplink to cause the primary station to adjust its transmitted power on the downlink. The secondary station monitors the downlink and, in response to detecting an unloaded cell condition, determines a target SIR offset which it applies to the target SIR to overcome interference from the presence of the synchronization channel on the downlink.

  • Patent number: 8891698
Abstract: A scheme determines the first significant path (FSP) of a received multipath signal, from data defining the relative delay and the amplitude of the individual signal paths occurring in a series of time frames. The scheme includes filtering the data to spread the signal paths, performing a persistence test between frames to reject spurious signal paths, combining the energy of the signal paths in a frame, applying a test to determine the time at which the combined energy satisfies a criterion, and selecting the FSP dependent on that time. The combined energy may be evaluated within a sliding window, and the position of the window within the frame determined that maximizes the combined energy. Alternatively, the combined energy may be evaluated as the cumulative energy through the frame, and the position determined at which the cumulative energy reaches a threshold.

  • Patent number: 8606313
Abstract: In a receiver of a UMTS telecommunication system a process for performing the Outer Loop power control in a User Equipment is provided. The receiver includes an improved outer loop power control mechanism that estimates a Signal to Interference target (SIRtarg) based on a Block Error Rate target (BLERtarg) received from a base station. The outer loop control mechanism estimates a BLER value (BLERest) based on a number of received blocks and then adjusts a SIR target value (SIRtarg) based on the relationship between BLERtarg and BLERest. Meanwhile, simultaneously in parallel, the outer loop power control mechanism monitors for a potential convergence of a first SIR value with the SIRtarg and upon detection of such potential convergence applying a correction to SIRtarg.

  • Publication number: 20130115902
Abstract: A method for tuning an oscillator frequency produced in a radio-receiver chain is based on a slope analysis of a residual difference between the oscillator frequency and a carrier frequency of a radio-received signal. Depending on the slope value calculated, a bandwidth of a low-pass time-filtering that is effective for the frequency difference is increased or set back to a default value. The method provides an improved trade-off between tuning precision and dynamic behavior when the frequency difference drifts rapidly.
