Patent number: 6915634Abstract: A supercharger arrangement for an engine assembly 10 is disclosed, the arrangement including first and second superchargers 22A, 22B that are mounted on the engine assembly by means of separate first and second mounting members 46, 48 respectively. Each mounting member defines an integrated supercharger lubrication conduit 62A, 62B, 64A, 64B and the present invention is characterized in that the superchargers 22A, 22B are of substantially identical construction and are separable from the first and second mounting members 46, 48. The integrated lubrication conduits 62A, 62B, 64A, 64B are routed through their respective said mounting members in such a manner as to enable the first and second superchargers to be mounted on the engine assembly 10 in substantially mirror image orientations thereabout.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2003Date of Patent: July 12, 2005Assignee: Renault S.A.S.Inventors: Eric Dumas, Pierre Gonzalez, Pascal Hottebart, Benjamin Lheriau

Patent number: 5806363Abstract: A level gauge for a tank of a driven sensor type includes a drum around which is wound a thread on the end of which is suspended a driven level sensor. A reversible servomotor drives the drum with the drum being driveable in reverse directions. The rotation of the drum is recorded and a variation in the force of the thread is detected. The force is directly related to the relative position of the sensor with respect to the level being measured. The detector for detecting the variation in the force in the thread includes an element rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis, with an oscillation of the element being limited by a damping arrangement, with movement of the element enabling the force exerted on the thread to be measured.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Assignees: Institut Francais du Petrole, Danny J. Patent number: 5651879Abstract: The cell 1 includes an upper cylindrical chamber 2 comprising at its center over its entire height a vertical ink removal pipe 4. A lower lateral pipe 9 receives via an opening 10 a paper pulp feed diluted in water and is fed with air from an upper pipe 12. Injectors placed on the pipe 9 inject the paper pulp and air into the chamber 2. Each injector has the shape of a tube with a constant diameter and opens at its outlet extremity through about twelve honeycomb-shaped orifices, thus ensuring a satisfactory dispersion of the air. The air bubbles lift up the ink particles so as to form a foam evacuated by the pipe 4.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1996Date of Patent: July 29, 1997Inventor: Pierre Gonzalez

Patent number: 5615133Abstract: The transaction data are acquired, developed and stored by a processing device located in direct proximity to measuring instruments, which includes a control processor (H) and a storage module (S). The data are stored in a non-volatile and redundant media (3, 4) and under the control of a control element (5). Queries to be performed are transmitted thereto by control processor (H) by means of a transmission channel (L) and of a buffer memory (8). The data of these queries are written and read into the storage media via a memory (6). Permanent controls are performed to check the quality and the accuracy of all the internal transfers and also to save the data in case of a power supply problem. The data saved in the memory may be read by external request.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1994Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Assignees: Socetec, Institut Francais du PetroleInventors: Patrick Gillard, Pierre Gonzalez

Patent number: 5569839Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus and method for determining pore volume parameters of a solid sample. The apparatus comprises a high pressure cell (50), a sample holder (1) provided with an orifice (21), means (2) for creating a vacuum connected to a chamber (10a) containing the sample holder by at least one orifice (30), and a mercury supply. The apparatus also comprises a syringe pump (9) connected to the chamber and to mercury supply means for delivery of mercury under pressure, means for programming a steady supply of mercury for a fixed period of time connected to the pump, at least one pressure sensor (15) downstream of the pump which continuously reads the pressure, and means (41) for signal collection and processing connected to the pressure sensor and the means for programming a steady supply of mercury and adapted to calculate the porosimetry parameters.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1994Date of Patent: October 29, 1996Assignee: Institut Francais Du PetroleInventors: Hubert Ajot, deceased, by Laure Ajot, legal representative, by Alexandra Ajot, legal representative, by Vincent Ajot, legal representative, Colette Russmann, Jose Brandely, Dominique Garnier, Pierre Gonzalez

Patent number: 5549008Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to a device for testing a partly conductive medium to determine a characteristic thereof. A signal generator generates a periodic excitation signal in a resonant circuit, including a coil which produces a magnetic field, which is coupled to the partially conductive medium. Eddy currents induced in the partially conductive medium cause the current flowing in the resonant circuit to vary. The amplitude of the envelope of the current flowing in the resonant circuit is measured and processed to determine the characteristic of the medium.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1993Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Institut Francais du PetroleInventors: Claude Beauducel, Didier Frot, Pierre Gonzalez

Patent number: 5483344Abstract: The invention relates to the measurement of the difference between refractive indexes of two media, traversed by a light beam the beams produce an interference figure consisting of fringes having a displacement which is measured.According to the invention, the displacement of the fringes of the interference figure is detected with a photosensitive device and a phase modulation is performed on at least one of the beams and the modulation is controlled in order to obtain a movement of the fringes of the interference figure.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1994Date of Patent: January 9, 1996Assignees: Institut Francais du Petrole, Francois CouillardInventors: Didier Frot, Claude Beauducel, Pierre Gonzalez, Francois Couillard

Patent number: 5257528Abstract: A device for studying an aging of a fluid circulated in a loop or closed circuit by imposing, for example, predetermined temperature, pressure or shear conditions on the fluid in order to determine rheologic properties of the fluid. The device includes a loading pump, a circulating pump, a filtration governor pump and an injection and draw-off pump, a flow meter, a viscosimeter for discontinuous measurings, a narrowing or reduction for causing a shearing of the fluid, a number of filters interconnected in series, a sampling cell, pressure and temperature pickups, heating jackets and heat insulation sheaths for maintaining a homogenous temperature all along the loop, and a control system which includes a programmable automaton associated with a microcomputer in order to pilot numerous operating sequences. The device is constructed so as to maintain constant conditions imposed on the fluid regardless of the type of measurements being effected.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1990Date of Patent: November 2, 1993Assignee: Institut Francais du PetroleInventors: Didier Degouy, Jose Brandely, Bernard Chatelain, Pierre Gonzalez

Patent number: 4736346Abstract: System for interconnecting elements of a receiving device of great length, for example a seismic streamer, comprising a plurality of data aquisition apparatuses, each of which is adapted to collect 12 separate signals generated by receiver groups distributed in the different elements. The 12 groups of separate receivers (R.sub.1, R.sub.2 . . . R.sub.12) are regularly distributed in each element (T.sub.1, T.sub.2 . . . ), forming 6 pairs of groups. A first group of each pair (R.sub.1, R.sub.3, R.sub.5) is connected to an input of an acquisition apparatus (B.sub.2). The second group of each pair is connected either to an input of another acquistion apparatus, or to inactive electric connection means (B.sub.1, B.sub.3) adapted to connect in parallel the second and the first groups of each pair. This system can be used in seismic prospecting.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1986Date of Patent: April 5, 1988Assignees: Institut Francais du Petrole, Compagnie General de GeophysiqueInventors: Jacques Cretin, Claude Beauducel, Pierre Gonzalez, Jean Rudaz
