  • Patent number: 5800921
Abstract: Antiabrasion curved section made of reinforced curved plastic material and comprising in at least one of a lower portion and an upper portion an antiabrasion material. A plurality of antiabrasion sections are produced inside a profiled mold having a plurality of grooves in which is arranged the antiabrasion material of the lower faces. Reinforced filaments impregnated with a stabilizable resin are supplied to the mold and, finally, the antiabrasion material of the upper faces is applied. The mold is wound on a mandrel and the plastic material is stabilized before removing the mold sections which form a unitary assembly dividable particularly during the stranding of arm rings.

    Assignee: Institut Francais du Petrole
Inventors: Pierre Groult, deceased, Michel Huvey
  • Patent number: 5417764
Abstract: An apparatus for the sizing of a shaped extended element having a longitudinal axis and including lateral surfaces extending substantially parallel to the axis. The apparatus includes a wheel rotatable about an axis. The wheel includes at least one planar ring-shaped surface extending perpendicular to the axis of the wheel and centered on the surface. The ring-shaped surface cooperates with the lateral surface of the shaped elongated element during a displacement of the wheel relative to the element along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the element. A coating device is adapted to deposit, at least on the outer circumference of the wheel a sufficient amount of glue for allowing a sizing of the lateral surface of the shaped element.

  • Patent number: 5350602
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the sizing of a shaped extended element having a longitudinal axis and including lateral surfaces extending substantially parallel to axis. The apparatus includes a wheel rotatable about an axis and with the wheel including at least one planar ring-shaped surface extending perpendicular to the axis of the wheel and centered on the surface. The ring-shaped surface is adapted to cooperate with the lateral surface of the shaped elongated element during a displacement of the wheel relative to the element along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the element. A coating means is adapted to deposit, at least on the outer circumference of the wheel a sufficient amount of glue for allowing a sizing of the lateral surface of the shaped element.

  • Patent number: 4317789
Abstract: A method of continuously manufacturing strips which include at least one thin porous conductive layer, said strips being intended in particular to form electrodes for fuel cells, in which method one stage in the manufacture of said layer includes passing powdered material to form it between the rolls of a calender. The method, said material is prepared by mixing an aqueous dispersion of carbon powder, which is possibly coated with a catalyst, with an emulsion of binder; precipitating the binder on the powder; drying and dry crushing the precipitate then wetting the powder while crushing is continued, with a liquid intended to prevent the grains from adhering to the rolls of the calender while lubricating said grains material thus obtained, being free from any pore-forming product, is calendered without using any support.
