  • Patent number: 11935179
Abstract: A fully-connected neural network may be configured for execution by a processor as a fully-fused neural network by limiting slow global memory accesses to reading and writing inputs to and outputs from the fully-connected neural network. The computational cost of fully-connected neural networks scale quadratically with its width, whereas its memory traffic scales linearly. Modern graphics processing units typically have much greater computational throughput compared with memory bandwidth, so that for narrow, fully-connected neural networks, the linear memory traffic is the bottleneck. The key to improving performance of the fully-connected neural network is to minimize traffic to slow “global” memory (off-chip memory and high-level caches) and to fully utilize fast on-chip memory (low-level caches, “shared” memory, and registers), which is achieved by the fully-fused approach.

  • Patent number: 4460869
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring the state of the surface of a moving body wherein a four-terminal eddy-current coil circuit is connected in a feedback loop of an RC resonator. The eddy-current coil circuit is placed in proximity to the monitored surface of the moving body and connected in the feedback loop of an RC resonator such that a change in the state of the surface of the moving body results in a change in the conductivity thereof, which conductivity change produces a phase displacement changing the output frequency of the RC resonator. During operation, a first data set is obtained from the coil circuit and RC resonator presenting a first runout profile of the body when the monitored state is in an initial state. The first data set is stored in a memory, and a subsequent profile is derived to obtain a second data set indicative of the operational state of the surface of the moving body.

  • Patent number: 3936734
Abstract: A method for contactless measurement of conductivity and/or temperature on metals by means of the eddy current effect induced within the metal by an alternating magnetic field produced by an excitation coil fed with alternating current arranged with its axis perpendicular to the surface of the metallic test specimen, there being in addition to the excitation coil a pair of measuring coils of equal radius arranged coaxially and symmetrically with respect to the excitation coil at each end respectively of the excitation coil and having an axial length substantially less than that of the excitation coil. The two measuring coils are connected electrically in series opposition and the phase angle between the current in the measuring coils and the current in the excitation coil is taken as an indication of the measured variable.
