  • Patent number: 6270035
Abstract: A supporting apparatus for a roll of paper towels or a similar item. The device has a section of lanyard or other flexible material fastened along its lower region to an adjoining collar with two arms extending in generally opposite directions from each other. The arms provide a surface on which a roll of paper towels can rest. A series of enlargements and a spherical dual-passage collar along the upper region of the lanyard together provide a releasable loop of adjustable size by which the device is hung. The holding device has confining elements at the distal ends of the arms. A user can easily attach a roll of paper towels or toilet tissue to the device by dropping the adjoining collar together with the arms through the hollow cylindrical core of the roll.

  • Patent number: 6112920
Abstract: A child-proof, senior-friendly safety closure for medicine containers is formed with a cylindrical wall including a continuous mid-level band and slotted upper and lower walls. The slotted walls, in conjunction with the mid-level band, form a plurality of lever-like locking elements which can be pivoted about the region of the mid-level band with which they are integrally associated. The associated receptacle is formed with a dispensing neck having an internally projecting locking flange arranged to engage with notches at lower ends of each of the cylindrically arrayed locking levers, the latter being resiliently biased to remain in locking engagement with the flange. To release the cap, an adult finger is inserted downward into the upper end of the cap, the dimensions of which are such that insertion of an adult finger causes the upper ends of the locking levers to be displaced radially outward.

  • Patent number: 5692639
Abstract: A length of flexible cord is arranged to support a pair of stop elements below a hanging loop. The stop elements are of a size and shape to pass individually through the hollow cylindrical core of a roll of paper towels or toilet tissues but, when suspended in side-by-side relation at the bottom of a vertically oriented roll, are collectively too large to pass through the core and thus serve to support the roll in vertical orientation. A hanging loop at the top of the roll can be suspended over any convenient means, such as a hook, doorknob or the like, so that the holder is easily portable to a location in which the towels or tissues will be used. A section of the cord hangs downward over the exterior of the roll and serves to keep the roll from unwinding by gravity, and also provides a source of resistance against which individual sheets may be torn from the roll. This outer cord element may hang by gravity or may be engaged with the stop elements and thus held snugly against the exterior of the roll.

  • Patent number: 5644793
Abstract: A dispensable, disposable reversible forearm protector is made up from continuous webs of composite material. Each of two laminated webs, comprised of a layer of soft, absorbent paper toweling or the like and a moisture impermeable layer of thermoplastic or similar material, is arranged face-to-face with the other and joined by heat sealing or other means along generally transverse strip-like bonding areas of the web to form rectangular or trapezoidal segments of the web. Lines of weakness running along the strip-like bonding areas allow successive segments to be detached from the web. Each segment forms a flat, tubular element, which is expandable to circular form so as to receive the hand and forearm of a user. The device may be easily turned inside-out, so that the respective layers of absorbent material and moisture impermeable material may be placed on the inside or the outside as desired.

  • Patent number: 5619875
Abstract: A flexible ring device, such as a key ring for example, is formed of a section of flexible material, such as metal cable or plastic anchored at one end to a coupling sleeve. The free end of the flexible section carries a coupling plug which can be inserted axially to an open end of the coupling sleeve. The coupling sleeve is formed with a locking notch, preferably a through opening, facing radially inwardly with respect to the closed ring. When the coupling plug is inserted into the open end of the coupling sleeve, and past the locking notch, a locking portion, formed by the back end of the coupling plug, is resiliently displaced into locking engagement with a shoulder formed by the locking notch. The device is thus locked in a closed configuration against being opened by tension forces. The device can be easily opened by manually re-aligning the coupling plug with the axis of the coupling sleeve and withdrawing the plug axially from the open end of the sleeve.

Preferably, the bonding areas are angled so that the individual segments are of trapezoidal shape, providing a tapered tubular configuration for better conformance with the contours of the forearm.

  • Patent number: 5255864
Abstract: A core sleeve for a roll of toilet tissue is provided with longitudinal and arcuate fold lines. After the toilet tissue has been removed from the core sleeve, the core sleeve is folded along the fold lines to reform the core sleeve into a disposable pouch.
