  • Patent number: 6788243
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for identifying modern radar systems. A finite state automaton comprising a finite set of states and a set of transitions from state to state that occur in dependence upon an input signal is provided for modeling the radar system. The finite state automaton produces a sequence of output symbols from an output alphabet in dependence upon the state transitions such that the sequence of output symbols corresponds to a received electromagnetic signal emitted from the radar system. The finite state automaton is then transformed into a hidden Markov model such that a sequence of observation symbols produced from an observation alphabet by the hidden Markov model is equal to the sequence of output symbols. The method provides powerful tools for solving electronic warfare problems such the classification problem, the decoding problem, the prediction problem and the training problem.

  • Patent number: 6561151
Abstract: A method for starting a car engine remotely by sensing the car battery voltage using an algorithm that can adjust its K value on a regular basis whenever the remote control is put into learn mode and a manual sequence is carried out prior to starting the car remotely. The device is highly reliable and easy to install due to a reduction in the amount of wires necessary for its installation and functioning. The device can be used for a wide variety of vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6467448
Abstract: A tachometer apparatus of a remote vehicle starting system for providing tachometric information. The apparatus includes an antenna disposed proximate to the engine compartment of the vehicle and adapted to pick up an RF signal generated by the firing of the spark plugs in the engine compartment. The apparatus also includes an RF detector having the antenna coupled to the input thereof and providing at its output a tachometer signal for coupling to a controller and providing a signal indicative of the running status of the vehicle engine and of the tach speed of the engine.

  • Patent number: 6191725
Abstract: An automatic gain control (AGC) circuit for electromagnetic wave receiving systems, such as radar warning receivers, has a number of N parallel paths to which analog IF input signals are applied with each path being connected to one of N inputs of an output switch. Each path contains a free running sampling analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that digitizes an amplified analog IF input, the digitized signals being applied to inputs of digital delay units whose output are supplied to the output switch's inputs. The amplification in each of the N paths is fixed and staggered to provide different fixed amplifications of the IF input to the ADCs. The AGC has a leading edge trigger (LET), a trailing edge trigger (TET) and a track-and-hold circuit that samples and holds the amplitude of an input pulse starting at the leading edge as demarked by the LET.

  • Patent number: 5944953
Abstract: A corn stalk and straw chip pulping method to greatly improve the yield of pulp by 1) preconditioning the corn stalk with propionic acid when harvesting or by impregnating the straw with HNO.sub.2 in the mill after chip washing, and 2) by pulping the stalk or straw chips in a high-consistency pulper with a KOH liquor, with or without K.sub.2 SO.sub.3, at a 12 to 15 percent consistency at 90.degree. C. for a predetermined time period (30 to 60 minutes). The pulping improvement step increases the yield of corn stalk and straw pulp from approximately 40 percent to 70 to 75 percent.
