  • Patent number: 9180284
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring the strength of the ischiocavernous muscles of a patient, the method being performed during an erection of the penis and providing a measuring and/or rehabilitation device configured to determine the strength of the ischiocavernous muscles and comprising at least one sensor, placing the sensor around the penis of the patient, measuring the variation of the intracavernous pressure, contracting the ischiocavernous muscles, and checking that the contraction causes elevation in intracarvernous pressure so as to ensure that the accurate muscles are contracted, where if the intracavernous pressure is elevated, ischiocavernous muscles are contracted during the contraction. The invention relates also to a method for treating and rehabilitating the ischiocavernous muscles comprising a step of implementing the method for measuring the strength of the ischiocavernous muscles and a step of voluntarily contracting the ischiocavernous muscles.

  • Publication number: 20130116742
Abstract: A measuring method enables the strength of the ischiocavernosus muscles (IC) causing the rigidity of the penis (P) of a patient and the arterial and venous variation ensuring the erection of the penis (P) of the patient to be measured and reinforced by placing a sensor (2, 50) around the penis (P) includes elements to receive the intracavernous pressure (ICP) and pressure variations of the penis (P), and at least one transducer (21, 55) integrated into or offset from the sensor (2, 50) allowing the pressure signal from the elements for receiving the pressure to be transformed into an electrical signal, and by connecting the sensor (2, 50) to a housing (35) including elements for amplifying and recording the signal from the transducer (21, 55), elements for analyzing the signal by a microcontroller allowing the fatigue state of the ischiocavernosus muscles (IC) to be measured and the variations in muscle strength of the ischiocavernosus muscles (IC) to be measured.

  • Publication number: 20100016759
Abstract: A measuring method enables the strength of the erector muscles (EM) causing the rigidity of the penis (P) of a patient and the arterial and venous variation ensuring the erection of the penis (P) of the patient to be measured and reinforced by placing a sensor (2, 50) around the penis (P) includes elements to receive the intracavernous pressure (ICP) and pressure variations of the penis (P), and at least one transducer (21, 55) integrated into or offset from the sensor (2, 50) allowing the pressure signal from the elements for receiving the pressure to be transformed into an electrical signal, and by connecting the sensor (2, 50) to a housing (35) including elements for amplifying and recording the signal from the transducer (21, 55), elements for analyzing the signal by a microcontroller allowing the fatigue state of the erector muscles (EM) to be measured and the variations in muscle strength of the erector muscles (EM) to be measured.

  • Publication number: 20090281397
Abstract: The measuring device according to the present invention includes a cylindrical probe (2) including a cylindrical longitudinal body (4) equipped with a flange (5) forming a stop, a pressure sensor (8) placed according to a direction longitudinal to the surface of the cylindrical body (4), an electronic card (15) disposed inside the cylindrical body (4) to which the pressure sensor (8) is connected, and communication means (16, 17) longitudinally traversing the probe (2) and allowing the inner part of the vagina to be connected to the outer in order to balance the intravaginal and extravaginal pressures.

  • Patent number: 5692520
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a non-invasive method and apparatus for measuring arterial and venous blood flow in body appendages. The present invention is also directed to a non-invasive method and apparatus for measuring penile tumescence as a function of arterial and venous blood flow in the penis and penile rigidity as a function of suprasystolic intra-cavernosal pressure. These measurements are performed to make a diagnosis in the field of erectile dysfunctions. Since every normal adult male experiences erections during rapid eye movement sleep, the measurements are preferably made during the patient's sleep, but can also be performed when the patient is awake for diagnosis and treatment.

  • Patent number: 4747415
Abstract: A method and a device for measuring the penile rigidity of a patient. The device comprises a cuff including a non-elastic tissue band having one of its faces entirely covered with a plastic container filled up with a liquid. A VELCRO strap is provided for ridigity wrapping up the non elastic tissue band around the penis of the patient, with the liquid container in direct contact with the penis. A pressure transducer is mounted in direct communication with the liquid inside the plastic container for sensing the liquid pressure inside this container. An electronic device is provided for amplifying the pressure signal given by the transducer and for recording and displaying the same. In use, any erection of the penis causes an increase in penile pressure, which, in turn, comprises the liquid inside the container held in position by the cuff. Such a compression recorded by the electronic device, is, in practice, directly related to the penis rigidity of the patient.
