  • Patent number: 6012986
Abstract: A rotational coupling of a wheel flange (14) to an output member (12) of a transmission joint for use in coupling a motor vehicle wheel flange to the outward bell housing of a constant-velocity joint in the vehicle-transmission. The wheel flange (14) is mounted so that it can rotate freely through a wheel support (16) by a rolling-contact bearing (18). The wheel flange (14) and the joint output member (12) includes a complementary coupling (19) including a ring (40) attached to the end of the flange facing the output member (12). The ring includes driving profiles (44) designed to interact with complementary profiles (54) associated with the output member. The force-transmission interface of the driving profiles (44) is distributed essentially outwardly of the extension of the end of the wheel flange (14) bearing the ring (40).

  • Patent number: 5806936
Abstract: A driven-wheel hub (18) includes an axial cavity (36) for the passage of the body of a bolt (16) for fixing a driving member (14) onto the hub. This member (14) is provided with a tapped hole (17) into which the threaded end (16A) of the bolt body is screwed. The cavity (36) has a diameter which is very much larger than the diameter of the bolt body and is bordered at its rear end by a bearing surface (40) for the head (45) of the bolt. The hub (18) furthermore includes a way of ensuring that it rotates as one with the driving member. A guide for guiding the bolt (37) are provided in the cavity (36) between the said bearing surface (40) and the entry to the tapped hole (15). The guides (38) are spaced away from the said bearing surface (40) along the axis of the hub.

  • Patent number: 5772517
Abstract: A slidable transmission joint has guides which ensure the cooperation of each arm (6) of a tripod element with associated tracks (7, 8). The guides have different overall sizes in the two circumferential directions. A spherical surface (3A) associated with each arm has an axis (Y--Y) which is parallel to a radius (13) of the male element (1) and perpendicular to the straight line joining the center of the spherical surface (3A) to the center of the layer guide and is offset from this radius in a direction away from the larger guide.

  • Patent number: 5713797
Abstract: The Universal Joint includes a tripod that is to be fixed to the first shaft and a female element that is to be fixed to a second shaft. The tripod has a plurality of arms to engage with the plurality of the tracks of the female element. Two of the tracks are disposed on respective sides of each of the arms of the tripod. Intermediate members are interposed between each one of the arms and the two of the plurality of tracks corresponding thereto. For each one of the arms, the two tracks corresponding thereto include a first track formed of a first slot and a second track. Each one of the arms has a second slot that forms an angle with the first slot of the first track and a first spherical surface. The intermediate members include a first intermediate member that is a ball interacting with the first slot and the second slot, and a second intermediate member interacting with the second track and having a second spherical surface that interacts with the first spherical surface.
