  • Patent number: 4162052
Abstract: A method for masking on the display device associated with a thermal telescope for the night guidance of self-propelled missiles carrying an infrared source, the image of a source of relatively intense stray radiations, wherein, on the one hand, the radiations transmitted in the field of vision of the thermal telescope are simultaneously detected in two different spectral bands, of which the one, called the useful band, corresponds to the maximum radiations from the target and the surrounding landscape, and the other one, called stray band, corresponds to the maximum radiations from the intense infrared sources carried or not by the missile, and on the other hand the signal detected in the first band is corrected by the signal detected in the second band in a manner to leave out the stray portions of the useful signal.

  • Patent number: 4151968
Abstract: A night guiding device for self-propelled missiles, comprising a daylight sighting telescope and an infrared goniometer, the unit being called a localizing apparatus, for detecting an infrared missile-borne source, or tracer, a night sighting thermal telescope, a visualization device associated therewith, further comprising a computer arranged for receiving through storing, amplifying and processing means, on the one hand signals transmitted by the localizing apparatus and characteristic of the missile position in relation to the optical axis of said localizing apparatus, and on the other hand signals supplied by the thermal telescope and characteristic of the missile position in relation to the optical axis of said thermal telescope, said computer supplying to said visualization device, signal representative of the difference between the signals received respectively from the localizing apparatus and the thermal telescope.

  • Patent number: 4134007
Abstract: A system for transmitting alignment data from the turret of an aircraft carrier to aircrafts stationed on the flight deck, comprising optical transmitters with modulable beams placed on the turret, means for modulating the transmitter beam from the data, an optical detector placed on each aircraft and means for demodulating the output signal of the detector, wherein each transmitter comprises a plurality of infrared electroluminescent diodes and means for changing the beam from the diodes into a beam which is substantially horizontal with an angle of site of a few degrees, the transmitters being arranged in such a manner that the adjacent transmitter beams overlap to a large extent and the optical detector is omnidirectional in the horizontal plane.
