  • Patent number: 7681836
Abstract: The invention relates to an aircraft comprising a device, for example an optical device, for detection and/or measurement of atmospheric disturbances in the path of the aircraft. This measurement device is placed in the pressurized zone between the aircraft nose and the compartment of the landing gear. It comprises: a structure box (18) designed to resist pressurization forces, aerodynamic fairing (13).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 2005
Date of Patent: March 23, 2010
    Assignee: Airbus France
    Inventors: Pierre Mirand, Michel Lacabanne
  • Patent number: 7499181
Abstract: A system for anticipated measurement of turbulence upstream of an aircraft, placed on-board the aircraft, includes a lidar, an image detector, a first processing component, and a second processing component. The lidar transmits an optical beam toward a front of the aircraft and receives a backscattered optical beam. The image detector detects variations in wind speed based on the backscattered optical beam. The first processing component uses a first internal correction algorithm to calculate values of components of the wind speed. The second processing component uses a second external correction algorithm to deliver possible command signals to actuators of at least one aircraft control surface based on the calculated values of the components of the wind speed from the first internal correction algorithm.

    Filed: May 23, 2005
Date of Patent: March 3, 2009
    Assignee: AIRBUS France
Inventors: Pierre Mirand, Michel Lacabanne, Nicky Aversa

Abstract: A system for anticipated measurement of turbulence upstream of an aircraft, placed on-board the aircraft. A lidar transmits an optical beam toward the front of the aircraft and receives the backscattered optical beam. A direct detection device is associated with a controller. A first processing component uses a first internal correction algorithm, and a second processing component uses a second external correction algorithm delivering possible command signals to actuators of at least one aircraft control surface.
