    Abstract: An apparatus and method for continuously controlling an endless belt, the belt being driven at a constant rate around at least two rollers spaced apart from each other, marking the belt while it is being driven to obtain successive marks and measuring distances between the successive marks while the belt is being driven. The rate of belt movement is changed in accordance with the distances measured.
