  • Patent number: 8739717
Abstract: An ocean going transport vessel 11 having a pair of hulls 13 15, supporting a first deck 17 located above and extending across the hulls 13 15 toward one end, and forming a structural link between the hulls 13 15. Each hull 13 15 includes a further deck 65 67 extending from the first deck 17 to the other end of the hulls 13 15. Ballast tanks allow adjustment of the draft and trim of the vessel 11. A void 115 extends between the further decks 65 67 and associated hulls 13 15 for stowage or suspension of a load, frame, or deck. The further decks 65 67 extend longitudinally beyond the hulls 13 15 as cantilevered decks 95 97 which each include a docking point 207 arranged to support the vessel by the cantilevered decks, by the docking point 207 resting on a structural support.

  • Publication number: 20110203507
Abstract: An ocean going transport vessel 11 having a pair of parallel spaced apart longitudinal hulls 13 15, supporting a first deck portion 17 located above and extending across the hulls 13 15 and forming a structural link between the hulls 13 15, located toward one end of the hulls 13 15, and preferably above the normal operating waterline of said vessel 11. Each hull 13 15 includes a further deck portion 65 67 extending at least from the first deck portion 17 to the other end of the hulls 13 15. The hulls 13 15 have ballast tanks to allow adjustment of the draft and trim of the vessel 11. The hulls 13 15 and deck portions 17 65 67 form a U-shape when viewed from above and below. A void 105 extends between further deck portions 65 67 and associated hulls 13 15 for stowage or suspension of a load or a subassembly such as a cradle, a frame, or a deck.

  • Patent number: 7735775
Abstract: A wing-in-ground-effect craft (11) having a loaded canard forewing (13) and a main forward delta configuration wing (15) attached to fore (17) and mid (19) sections of a body (21) respectively. The body (21) is formed with an integral planing hull (23) for amphibious applications, extending rearward to a tail section (25) which incorporates a ducted fan (27), and a vertical stabilizer (29). Rudder (31) is located in the exhaust of the ducted fan (27) for steering the craft (11), and serves as a stator to reduce spiral induced in the airflow exiting the duct (27). The canard forewing (13) has about 12% of the area of the main wing (15), and has inner portions (35) having a dihedral configuration disposed at a first angle of inclination from the vertical of 68°, and outer portion (37) disposed at a first angle of inclination from the vertical of about 91°.

The inner portions (35) have an angle of attack of 7.

  • Patent number: 5807029
Abstract: A construction jack-up barge comprising a barge (11) supporting a tower (13) in a stowed horizontal position for transport and a vertical position for deployment. The tower (13) has three fold-out legs (15), each equipped with a footing assembly (17). The tower (13) is supported for rotation between a horizontal stowed position and a vertical position for deployment, about the barge (11), by a pivotal connection (19). The tower is also supported in a traveling frame (20) which has concave shaped rollers (21) which track each chord of the tower (13), allowing the tower (13) to be moved up and down relative to the barge (11), when the tower is being deployed. In the vertical position the tower (13) is received through an opening which extends through the deck to the hull of the barge (11). A central cut out portion (33) extends from the stern of the barge (11), to the opening, to provide a pathway for the tower (13) as it rotates between the horizontal and vertical positions.
