Abstract: An apparatus for respirating a patient has a gas circulation device for circulating a gas in one direction in a line system, a pressure varying device suitable for varying a pressure of the gas in the line system in accordance with the desired respirating the pattern, a measurement sensor cooperative with the gas in the line system so as to measure a flow rate and composition of the gas, an absorber device suitable for withdrawing carbon dioxide as exhaled by the patient, a bypass line having a closing device suitable for completely or partially leading the respiratory gas outside of the line system, and a circulation blower cooperative with the line system so as to provide a continuous flow of gas in one direction through the line system.

Abstract: A method for al of a volatile anesthetic agent from a breathing gas in a respirating apparatus includes the steps of leading at least a portion of the breathing gas through a portion of a line system in which the portion of the line system has a filter therein, cooling the breathing gas to a temperature below a temperature of the boiling point of the anesthetic agent when the breathing gas passes through the filter so as to condense the anesthetic agent out of the breathing gas, warming the breathing gas after the anesthetic agent is condensed, and leading the warmed breathing gas out of the portion of the line system back into the line system. The filter has activated carbon therein.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for respirating a patient in which the apparatus has a circulation device for circulating a gas in one direction and a conduit system, a pressure control device for varying a pressure of the gas and the conduit system in accordance with the desired respirating pattern, a sensor for measuring a flow of the gas and a composition of the gas, at least one supply line for a component of the gas, and a discharge line connected to the conduit system. The discharge line has a first valve for discharging the gas out of the conduit system, a second valve behind the first valve and a third valve in spaced relation to a behind the second valve.

Abstract: Method for the removal of volatile anesthetic agents from breathing gas in an apparatus for respirating of patients provided with a closed line or conduit system in which breathing gas may be circulated, comprising leading the breathing gas or a part thereof through a filtering apparatus with activated carbon, wherein the breathing gas is cooled to a temperature below the boiling point of the anesthetic agent when it passes through the filtering apparatus, characterized in that the breathing gas, after anesthetic agent has condensed out of it, is warmed.

Abstract: Apparatus for the respirating of patients with means for the circulating in one direction in a line system of gas, with supplies for the various components of the gas and with a line system part in which a carbon dioxide absorber device is provided, whereby the line system further is provided with a by-pass line for leading of the respiratory gas outside of the line system part with the absorber device, characterized in that a control unit is provided by means of which the operating of the closing means takes place in dependence on one or more measurements of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the respiratory gas in the line system, and wherein the line system is provided with a circulation blower.
