Patent number: 11572473Abstract: Disclosed are compositions comprising dimeric decarboxylated rosins (DDCRs), methods for making them, and applications thereof. DDCR of purity from 50-100 wt. % is obtained by decarboxylating a dimeric rosin acid or by dimerizing a decarboxylated rosin, in the presence of a catalyst, followed by one or more purification steps separation on differences in boiling point. The isolated DDCR fractions display unexpectedly high Tg/Mn ratios, softening points and viscosities, and low polydispersities. The DDCR product comprises 50 to 100 wt. % of polycyclic hydrocarbon compounds having one or more aliphatic, unsaturated or aromatic groups, and 34-80 carbon atoms, with a molecular weight Mn of 250-900 Da, and an oxygen to carbon ratio of <5%. The DDCR product has at least 50%, and up to 100% as dimeric species, with the remainder being trimeric and larger polymeric species.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2020Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: KRATON POLYMERS LLCInventors: Jeroen van Herrikhuyzen, Mark Schaapman, Pieter Eduard

Patent number: 3952734Abstract: Intra-uterine-device meant to be inserted into the uterus, comprising an elongated stem, carrying at one end two resilient, canti-levered arms, extending sideways on either side of the stem, which stem is contained within a tube shaped sheath by means of which the device may be inserted into the uterine cavity through the cervix, after which the sheath may be pulled back, wherein the sheath narrowly encloses the stem, whereas the shape and flexibility of the arms are chosen in such manner, that the arms are easily collapsable onto the outer surface of the sheath. The arms, when relaxed, curve back towards the stem, so that they substantially form part of an ellipse, the longer axis of which coincides with the stem. The stem may at least partially be covered with a layer preventing pregnancy, which layer enhances the effect of the device. This layer may consist of a copper wire wound on the stem or of a carrier for a hormone preparation.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1975Date of Patent: April 27, 1976Assignee: Multilan S.A.Inventors: Willem Arthur Adriann Algernon Van Os, Pieter Eduard Reinier Rhemrev
