  • Patent number: 6822130
Abstract: A catalyst composition comprising an alumina carrier, a Group VIII noble metal, and a halogen compound wherein the catalyst composition has total pore volume of more than 0.48 ml/g and wherein at least 50% of this total pore volume resides in pores with a diameter smaller than 12 nm. This catalyst composition has a higher activity in isomerization reactions, per gram of catalyst and per gram of Group VIII noble metal, than prior art catalyst compositions.

  • Publication number: 20040138052
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process for the treatment of waste gas, preferably engine exhaust gas, in particular diesel or gasoline exhaust gas, wherein the waste gas is contacted with a zeolite Y which has a unit cell size of 24.17-24.45 Å, a water adsorption capacity (p/p0=0.2, T=25° C.) of at most 5 wt. %, and a silica-alumina molar ratio of at least 40. The zeolite is used in adsorbent or catalytic applications, with catalytic applications particularly including oxidation, NOx conversion, and NOx trapping. The invention also pertains to a unit for use in this application comprising the specified zeolite.

  • Publication number: 20030220529
Abstract: A process for the alkylation of saturated hydrocarbons by reacting an alkylatable compound with an alkylation agent to form a product stream comprising alkylate. The process involves the use of a series of at least two reactors. During the process, the product stream is subjected to an interstage distillation step, thereby removing at least a portion of the alkylate from the product stream before the product stream is introduced into a downstream reactor. In this process the alkylate concentration is kept at a relatively low level, thereby minimising the amount of undesired by-products that can be formed by, e.g., degradation of alkylate and condensation of degradation products.
