  • Patent number: 7242566
Abstract: A surge suppression circuit with a thermal cutoff includes a first surge suppressor in series with a first thermal cutoff device between a phase conductor and a neutral conductor. A second surge suppressor in series with a second thermal cutoff device is between the phase conductor and a ground conductor. A third surge suppressor is in series with a low temperature thermal cutoff device between the neutral conductor and the ground conductor. The thermal cutoff temperature of the low temperature thermal cutoff device is lower than the thermal cutoff temperature of the first thermal cutoff device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 2005
Date of Patent: July 10, 2007
    Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Inventors: Sural Yegin, Pieter Loftus, Kenneth J. Brown
  • Publication number: 20070097584
Abstract: A transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) device, suitable for commercial/industrial applications, incorporates diagnostic circuitry. The TVSS provides seven modes of protection for three phases of a typical electrical service. A surge panel can protect against large current transients. The large current-handling capability stems from passing a large amount of surge current from one layer of a multilayer printed circuit to another through the use of arrays of plated through holes.

  • Patent number: 7161786
Abstract: A data surge protection module which can be added to data and control networks not having such protection. The use of quick connect/disconnect connectors allows the rapid installation or replacement of such modules. a built in ground plate and a braided low impedance conductor offer alternative grounding methods for the module. The module employs two or more diode steering bridges and uses a diode as the surge suppression element.

  • Publication number: 20060181833
Abstract: A surge protector with at least one surge suppressor integrated circuit (IC) having first and second transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes configured 2 per package for reducing near and far end cross talk in a high speed telecommunication line, and first and second general purpose fuses coupled to said first and second TVS diodes for reducing insertion and return loss in the high speed telecommunication line.
