  • Publication number: 20240335123
Abstract: In the field of obtaining cardiovascular information from the mammal body (2) in a measurement action performed during a measurement period including a period following a moment at which a local spot of a temperature that significantly deviates from the temperature of the mammal body (2) has been created in the blood vascular system of the mammal body (2), values representing temperature difference to a baseline temperature are measured at at least one position close to, on or in the mammal body (2) throughout the measurement period by means of a measurement device (20) including at least one ultra-sensitive sensor (21) with a high resolution that is configured to enable recordation of at least two subsequent indicator dilution curves in a temperature difference course relating to a respective side of the heart. A practical example of the sensor (21) is a photonic sensor such as a Fiber Bragg Grating sensor.

  • Publication number: 20170181646
Abstract: A system and method are presented for detecting and measuring pressure within a region of a body lumen or vessel. The pressure sensing system includes a light source for transmitting light through a pathway of fiber optic wire. A distal portion of the fiber optic wire is engaged to and extends along a guidewire. The distal portion of the fiber optic wire includes sensor station(s) made up of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). The light transmitted to and reflected from the FBGs of the pressure sensing stations can be analyzed to provide one or more values.

  • Patent number: 9268098
Abstract: A fiber Bragg grating interrogator assembly is described. Examples of the fiber Bragg grating interrogator assembly include an optical fiber including a fiber Bragg grating having a variable Bragg wavelength (?B) and a dynamic range of interest (??dyn,B) over which the Bragg wavelength (?B) can shift during use. The fiber Bragg grating interrogator assembly also includes a response analyzer having a spectrally selective device with an input port to which the optical fiber is operably connected, and a plurality of output ports of which each output port is associated with a respective spectral range (??n). The spectral ranges (??n, ??n+1, ??n+2) of each at least three successive output ports partially overlap, such that the FBG's Bragg wavelength (?B) falls inside the spectral ranges (??n, ??n+1, ??n+2) of at least three successive output ports over the dynamic range of interest (??dyn,B) of the FBG.
