    Abstract: A crane, a method for assembly of a crane and a method for disassembly of a crane are disclosed. In accordance with the method, a first mast is fixed in a vertical position. A top mast section of a second mast is positioned adjacent to and outside of the first mast. The top mast section is moved vertically upwards, and this movement is guided by a guide system. Then, the top mast section is fixed relative to the first mast at a position which is at a larger vertical distance from the crane base. Then, a first intermediate mast section of the second mast is fixed to a lower end of the top mast section to build up the second mast. Then, the first intermediate mast section is connected to a pivot, and the second mast is pivoted away from the first mast.

The part of the back mast that has been connected to the back mast top slide is stepwise extended by attaching further back mast intermediate sections and the back mast lower section. During the extension of the back mast the back mast top slide is stepwise raised along the upright ballast mast.

The hoisting device is assembled from mast parts which are mutually connectable by means of connecting means and the largest of which has dimensions which do not exceed those of a usual container. Each mast part is constructed as a framework structure consisting of angle bars and cross bars mutually connecting the angle bars. The angle bars consist of two parts with a set-square-shaped cross section of different dimensions and wherein the outer ends of the legs of the smaller lie against the legs of the larger and the larger part lies on the outer periphery of the mast part, so that mast parts are provided of the greatest possible strength and stiffness within the dimensions of typical containers.
