  • Publication number: 20090157844
Abstract: The network automatic discovery protocol and device enables discovery of the state status information of network community members and detects when other community members enter or leave the community. The protocol maintains a sequence number at each node system that indicates a change in state to other nodes in the community. The protocol also uses a seed list that provides both an initial list of community members to advertise its presence at startup and as a mechanism for recovery when communication is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 6615042
Abstract: A method in a Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) of handling subscriber services when a serving Mobile Switching Center (MSC) does not support all WIN triggers. The WIN includes a Home Location Register (HLR) having a subscriber profile that indicates the WIN triggers required to support a particular subscriber's active services. When an invoke message is sent from the MSC to the HLR, a WIN Capabilities (WINCAP) parameter is included and indicates the WIN triggers supported by the MSC. The HLR identifies a Service Control Point (SCP) for each subscriber service that requires a WIN trigger and is not supported by the MSC. The HLR then queries each identified SCP for call-treatment instructions. If an SCP determines that its service is essential, a response is returned to the HLR with an instruction to deny service to the subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20030054826
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for delivering an incoming data call from a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to a Mobile Station (MS). A Mobile Switching Center (MSC) first receives an incoming call and initiates a call setup procedure with an Interworking Function (IWF). The IWF adapts the data call for a cellular network and completes the call setup procedure with the MSC. The MSC then initiates a connection with a Base Station Controller (BSC) currently serving the MS. After the connection is completed, the PSTN is informed and data transfer with the MS can is initiated.
