Moreover the invention relates to an improved method for preparing said compound by the condensation of cytidine triphosphate (CTP) with N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA), catalyzed by the enzyme CMP-transferase (CMP-acylneuraminate synthase) (EC 2.7.7.43).
