  • Publication number: 20010017187
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a pointing stick is provided. A post or a substrate of the present invention is provided with a hollow portion, and a predetermined gap is defined between the post and the substrate. After an adhesive is supplied to the gap through the hollow portion, it is heated to join the post and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5763840
Abstract: A membrane switch including a plurality of upper dot-pads and a plurality of lower dot-pads is provided to enhance the operational sensitivity while avoiding unexpexted actuation of membrane switch is provided. The plurality of upper dot-pads are provided during the print process of the top switch-pad and distributed to surround the top switch-pad. A plurality of lower dot-pads corresponding the plurality of upper dot-pads are provided during the print process of the bottom switch-pad and distributed to surround the bottom switch-pad. Each of the plurality of upper dot-pads has a lower-edge and each of the plurality of lower dot-pads has an upper-edge. As the top membrane is free of an external force, the lower-edge of top switch-pad is spaced from the upper-edge of bottom switch-pad by a first dimension greater than a second dimension by which the lower-edge of each upper dot-pad is spaced from the upper-edge of each lower dot-pad.

  • Patent number: 5743386
Abstract: A membrane switch including a rubber dome, an insulation layer, a membrane and an electric-conductive support plate is provided. The membrane switch is ON as the pair of non-contacting circuit leads is forced to contact with the support plate due to the force applied on the rubber dome. As the rubber dome is free of an external force, the pair of non-contacting circuit leads is spaced from the support plate, resulting in an OFF state of the membrane switch.

  • Patent number: 5710397
Abstract: The switch actuator provided comprises a rubber dome, a housing, a keytop and a plunger. The rubber dome is seated on the switch and is selectively deformed to actuate the switch. The housing receives the rubber dome therein and has an upper opening defining an edge of the opening and has an inner surface. The plunger moves reciprocally within the housing and is guided by the edge during the reciprocal movement of the keytop. The keytop, which has a bottom surface, moves reciprocally and vertically together with the plunger to selectively deform the rubber dome to actuate the switch as the result of the operation of the user. The invention is characterized in that a slant surface is formed on the inner surface of the housing to retain the bifurcated hook end of the plunger to reduce the noise generated during movement of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5594214
Abstract: The signal transmission flat cable provided includes a first layer of substrate membrane, a second layer of a plurality of parallel traces for transmitting the signal, a third layer of finger array and a fourth layer of thin polyester membrane. The third layer of finger array covers the second layer. The fourth layer of thin polyester membrane is used to protect the second layer and third layer. The signal transmission flat cable is characterized in that the plurality of finger arrays are provided in the third layer at a plurality of predetermined locations along the flat cable and each of the plurality of finger arrays is spaced from each other by a given distance. A glue material is provided to bond the fourth layer and the second layer along the given distance.
