  • Publication number: 20080200861
Abstract: A device for treatment of skin tissue includes RF electrodes for applying RF energy to the skin and a dispensing unit for dispensing a depilatory substance onto the skin. The device may include a housing, an RF electrode assembly including RF electrodes for applying RF energy to the skin, one or more of the RF electrodes is movable relative to the housing and to the surface of the skin for distributing the RF energy to various parts of the skin and for spreading the depilatory substance along the surface of the skin. The RF electrodes are energized by an internal or external RF energy source. A method for treatment of skin tissue includes applying a depilatory substance to the skin and applying RF energy to the depilatory substance treated skin.

  • Publication number: 20080183251
Abstract: Skin treating devices and systems for delivering RF electromagnetic energy to the skin. The devices include one or more electromagnetic RF generating units, multiple RF electrode groups and a controller for controllably applying RF energy to the skin through any selected RF electrode group or any selected RF electrode group combination selected from the multiple groups. The electrodes may be stationary and/or movable electrodes. Different RF frequencies and/or frequency bands may be used. The alternation of energy application through different electrode groups at different times, and/or the changing of the inter-electrode distance and configuration by using movable RF electrodes may reduce or prevent electrode overheating, control RF energy distribution within the skin and enable use of the devices and/or for different skin treating applications.

  • Publication number: 20070179490
Abstract: Methods, Devices and systems for hair removal combine the application of RF electromagnetic energy to the skin with application of heat from heating element(s) to hair(s) of the skin. The devices or systems may include RF electrodes and one or more heating elements. RF energy from an RF generating unit is applied to the RF electrodes. Heat is applied to hair shafts by the heating element(s). The devices and systems may be hand held or may include a hand held part connected to a base unit. In operation, the hand held device or part is moved along the treated skin region. The combined effect of RF energy application to the skin and heating of the hair shaft results in improved hair removal and may reduce hair re-growth. The devices and systems may also include safety improving features preventing skin damage by reducing sparking or excessive skin heating by the heating element(s).

  • Patent number: 7066929
Abstract: Performing selective photothermolysis of sub-cutaneous tissue by using a plurality of beams of narrow band electro-magnetic radiation, where each of the beams have energy that is insufficient to heat the tissue that they strike to a temperature high enough to destroy such tissue, but by directing the individual beams to overlap at the target sufficient heat is generated to destroy the target tissue.
