  • Patent number: 8516207
Abstract: The present invention provides a remote online backup method based on stager fragmented transmission, comprising: defining a journal storage system as a journal relay system, i.e., a Journal Stager; dividing the Journal Stager into a Local Journal Stager and a Remote Journal Stager to optimize backup transmission performance of the whole online backup system; setting between the Local Journal Stager and the Remote Journal Stager a transmitter, by which a journal is transmitted from one stager to another stager; applying the journal to a backup storage device through a Journal Replayer at a backup destination site.

  • Patent number: 8312316
Abstract: A data storage system, method and a data storage and backup system are provided. The data storage method comprises defining a local storage of the data processing system as a journal vault; storing data in the journal vault by journaling; sending the data from the journal vault to a transmitter; and transmitting the data from the transmitter to a secondary storage. The present invention enhances a write function of a low performance storage device by journaling. In a case where the present invention is applied to a backup system, the performance of the whole backup system can be improved significantly, and the backup system can be extended to a remote site easily. When a storage of a production system fails, the storage system of the present invention can be switched to “production mode” and service resumes to be provided with the shortest downtime.

  • Patent number: 7199434
Abstract: A split drain magnetic field effect transistor (MAGFET) includes at least one supplemental gate to exert a lateral electrical field in the channel of the MAGFET. Connection of the supplemental gate in feedback with one of the two drain contacts allows the MAGFET to act as a latch sensitive to the presence of an external magnetic field. Preferably, the MAGFET includes two laterally spaced supplemental gates, allowing for the detection of an external magnetic field and its orientation.
