  • Patent number: 9514514
Abstract: A system and method for scaling an image includes receiving raw image data comprising input pixel values which correspond to pixels of an image sensor; and filtering pixels according to a Bayer-consistent ruleset by a first scaling factor in a first direction and a second scaling factor in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the first scaling factor is different from the second scaling factor. The system and method may also include outputting scaled image data as output pixel values, which correspond to subgroups of the input pixel values. The Bayer-consistent ruleset includes a set of filter weights and a series of scaling rules. The Bayer-consistent ruleset results in a scaled image having a high degree of Bayer-consistency.

  • Patent number: 9413999
Abstract: An image sensing device and image sensing method are described herein. By way of example, the imaging sensing device includes a two-dimensional array of light sensing elements, each light sensing element being configured to generate an output signal indicative of an intensity level of light impinging on the light sensing element, one or more analog-to-digital converters configured to digitize output signals read out from the array of light sensing elements to generate digital output pixel values, a control circuit configured to generate digital pixel reset values, and a compression module configured to receive the digital pixel reset values and to generate a compressed digital pixel reset value corresponding to each digital pixel reset value.

  • Patent number: 5506699
Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting a binary image into a gray scale image includes a pipeline having a number of nearly identical stages. At each stage, modifications occur to provide the gray scale image by following a sequence of steps including: (1) determining a sample mean value representing an averaging of pixel values within a neighborhood containing a selected pixel; (2) determining a weighted variation value representing pixel value variations within the neighborhood; and (3) adjusting the pixel value of the selected pixel toward the sample mean value if the difference between the pixel value and the sample mean value exceeds the weighted variation value. The adjustment to the pixel value is in the direction of the sample mean value. Preferably, the weighting of the variation value is different at each stage. At each stage along the pipeline, low pass filtering is provided to remove high frequency noise generated by the process.

  • Patent number: 5446804
Abstract: A method of magnifying a digital image based on an edge map. The image has many original pixels, with each pixel having a level, and the locations of the pixels having a resolution. The method to magnify the image includes the steps of producing an edge map with many boundaries from the digital image, projecting the edge map onto the digital image, generating one or more additional pixels in locations among the original pixels by manipulating the levels of one or more original pixels without crossing any boundaries set by the edge map, and expanding the distances between the pixels so that the resolution of the locations of the pixels becomes the same as the original pixels. In another preferred embodiment, the original digital image is enlarged to the size of the magnified image by extending proportionally the locations of the original pixels. Then the edge map is produced and projected onto the enlarged image to generate additional pixels.
