  • Patent number: 6521363
Abstract: An elastic sheet structure for the contact of a battery set used in a portable computer is provided. It comprises a positive-end elastic sheet and a negative-end elastic sheet having a central hole thereon. The size of the positive-end elastic sheet is smaller than that of the central hole of the negative-end elastic sheet. This invention may assemble several electric cells into a complete battery set for a portable computer. The special design avoids damaging the portable computer due to the misplacement of the positive end and the negative end of the electric cells of the battery set. It also provides a simple and convenient way to assemble the battery set.

  • Publication number: 20020078391
Abstract: A computer system has a central processing unit (CPU), a memory, a first power management routine, a second power management routine, a clock generator, an event controller, and a system controller for implementing a bus. The system controller uses a host clock signal that determines the operating frequency of the bus. The clock generator generates the host clock signal. The first power management routine has computer code that saves state information of the computer system in the memory and that places the system controller into an idle state. The second power management routine restores the computer system using the state information stored in the memory.

  • Patent number: 6198245
Abstract: Thermal management within an electrically powered systems requires monitoring, from time-to-time, both electrical power consumption and temperature within the system. The power consumption and temperature data thus obtained permits developing over time a thermal model for the system. After a thermal model for the system has been thus developed, the model together with the presently sensed electrical power consumption, and the system temperature are used to predict a thermal trend for the system. The predicted thermal trend thus obtained for the system is then used in effecting a temperature control strategy within the electrically powered system.
