Abstract: A method of producing a fiber web, and the fiber web. According to the present method, a fiber material layer is formed from fiber pulp, by using foam forming, which layer is then dried. According to the present invention, at least part of the fiber pulp is mechanical or chemi-mechanical pulp, which is ozonized before the foam forming. By using ozonization, the pulp to be foamed is improved, as regards both fiber bonding and the removal of the wood extractives, during pulp preparation. The manufactured products are suitable, for example, for end uses, where the packages are intended to be light and strong, and the properties of which ensure that the taste and smell of the products are not tainted, such as sales and storage packages for food supplies, chocolate and cigarettes.

According to this method, the pulp is fibrillated and the fibrillated pulp is bleached in alkaline conditions. According to the present invention, the pulp is screened to separate the reject from the accept, at maximum approximately 60% of the total amount of pulp is separated as the reject, the reject is bleached separate from the accept, and, after that, the bleached reject is remixed with the accept. When operating according to the present invention, the strength of the pulp increases and the energy used for refining is reduced, which is seen both in the refining of the reject and in the post-refining of the final mechanical pulp.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of betuline as a filler in paper or board, and to a method for producing paper or board. According to the invention, an aqueous slurry is made of betuline, followed by the addition of said slurry to the pulp during the production of paper or board, and removal of water from the paper web, and then the production of paper or board is continued in a conventional manner.
