  • Patent number: 8111434
Abstract: The invention relates to a scanner's optical device, receive the light coming from the image of an object to be scanned, comprising: several reflective mirrors, a light-focusing module, and a charge coupled device. The reflective mirrors provide reflection and directional change for the light and, by appropriately arranging several reflective mirrors, the light of the object to be scanned directionally changed to a predetermined route. With at least one curving mirror, the light-focusing module focus the light of the predetermined route and then directionally change it, and a raster is then provided in the light route of the curving mirror for filtering out unnecessary light. The charge coupled device may receive the light coming from the light-focusing module and convert it into electronic signals. The said light-focusing module replaces the prior lens set for executing a scanning job.

  • Patent number: 7595917
Abstract: A document scanner with a light focusing device downward formed on a document support panel is disclosed. The document scanner is provided with a chassis including a light source and an image sensing device. A scanning window made of light-transmitting material is formed in an area of the document support panel. A driving roller is arranged in a document feeder for driving a document to be scanned through the scanning window. Light emitted from the light source transmits through the scanning window toward the document and is reflected by the document toward the image sensing device, The document support panel forms a convex projection on a bottom surface thereof. The projection confronts the light source for focusing the light onto the document. Preferably, the projection includes an extended section from the bottom surface of the document support panel and forming a convex end surface confronting the light source.

  • Patent number: 7457012
Abstract: A method of detecting the alignment of a document in an automatic document feeder including an optical scanner that has an automatic document feeder and a document. The automatic document feeder has a colored pattern layer corresponding to a scanning window of the optical scanner. The document has at least one side edge. When the document is being fed into the automatic document feeder, the side edge is just positioned between the scanning window and the colored pattern layer. When the automatic document feeder is switched on to feed in the document, a first image retrieval is made from the document placed on the scanning window. After the document is fed in by an appropriate length, a second image retrieval is made from the document placed on the scanning window. A slant value is calculated.
