  • Patent number: 6296369
Abstract: A lamp includes a bowl-like base having a bottom and wall extending up from said bottom. A storage battery is mounted on the bottom of the base and two retaining plates extend up from opposite ends of the bottom of the base within the wall. The retaining plate includes a free end having a button mounted thereon. The button partially extends through the wall of the base. A hook is attached to the button and has a free end over the wall of the base. A printed circuit board is mounted on one of the retaining plates and is connected to the storage battery. A reflector is mounted on the base. A socket is mounted at the center of the reflector, and a bulb is received in the socket. The reflector and the bulb are connected to the storage battery. The open end of the globe having an edge corresponding to the wall of the base and abutting an edge of the wall to form a chamber. The side of the globe is translucent, and the top is transparent.

  • Patent number: 6044737
Abstract: A new type of stator design and arc shaping method that is used in a diametrically wound and diametrical air gap type of brushless motor. After arc shaping, the stator of this brushless motor has an external profile composed of a central arc and two modified arcs located on each side of the central arc. The central arc subtends an angle twice that of angle A and the modified arcs each has a radius r, both angle A and r are given by the following formulae: ##EQU1## Through arc shaping the stator, the cogging torque is lowered while a certain standard value for the torque constant is still maintained. Thus, the overall efficiency of the brushless motor is raised.

  • Patent number: 5923110
Abstract: A spindle motor for a disc drive, such as a CD-ROM drive, is provided. This spindle motor is a brushless motor of a single-phase axial-winding and radial-gap type including a stator, a rotor coupled to said stator, and a driving circuit for supplying a driving signal to the stator to rotate the rotor. The stator includes a pair of upper and bottom salient-pole pieces formed with a plurality of tooth-like portions serving as salient-poles. The peak surface of each tooth-like portion is formed into a symmetrical convex shape, which minimizes the cogging torque of the motor. Further, the use of a phase-adjuster in the driving circuit allows the motor to produce large output torque at high speeds. The output characteristics of this spindle motor meet the requirements of high speed CD-ROM drives.

  • Patent number: 5744893
Abstract: A brushless motor stator for an axially wound brushless motor with a diametrical air-gap having a plate structure with at least one plate, the profile of the plate comprising: a central circular hole; a number of salient poles surrounding the central circular hole; and a slot opening between every two adjacent said salient poles. The salient poles and those slot openings have the following characteristics: (1) the outer rim of the salient pole is in the form of a circular arc segment whose arc radius R.sub.S satisfies the following inequality relation: .pi./P.times.R.sub.M <R.sub.S <0.95R.sub.M ; (2) the neck width W.sub.S of the salient pole satisfies the following inequality relation: .pi./2P.times.R.sub.M <W.sub.S <2.pi./P.times.R.sub.M -g; (3) the depth D.sub.S of the slot opening satisfies the following inequality relation: .pi./P.times.R.sub.M <D.sub.S <2.5.pi./P.times.R.sub.M ; where R.sub.
