  • Patent number: 11822395
Abstract: An information handling system EMI shield system couples to a circuit board to enclose an electronic device in a Faraday cage and includes a surface painted with a graphene paint to aid in dissipation of excess thermal energy from the electronic device. The EMI shield system has a frame that couples to the circuit board and interfaces with ground to define a boundary around an electronic device connector and has a shield that couples as a separate piece over the frame to enclose the electronic device. Graphene paint applied to some or all of the shield encourages rejection of excess thermal energy from within shield.

  • Patent number: 11800600
Abstract: An information handling system supports multi-radio and multi-antenna wireless communication by routing coaxial cables between the radios and antennas through a cable clip of a conductive material coupled to system ground and interfaced with the coaxial cable ground sheath through an opening formed in the coaxial cable outer casing. A current source of the radio frequency applies a current in phase with the radio signal to the coaxial cable outer casing to suppress crosstalk with coaxial cables of different frequencies.

  • Patent number: 11614782
Abstract: An information handling system may detect fan blockage for one or more fans using a target value such as the rotational rate of a fan or a duty cycle value of the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal for a fan, and a monitored value includes at least the other one of the rotational rate of the fan or the duty cycle value of the PWM signal for the fan. The information handling system may determine whether either the duty cycle value of the PWM signal for a fan or the rotational rate of the fan meets or crosses a threshold value. The threshold value, for example, may include an intake blocking warning limit or a rotational rate limit. The information handling system may then generate a notification to the user, such as a re-positioning notification. The methods described or illustrated may be entirely implemented in an embedded controller.

  • Patent number: 11599168
Abstract: A cooling system for cooling components in an information handling system contained in a portable chassis comprises a die plate for receiving heat from a component, a heat pipe for transferring heat from the die plate to a single heat exchanger, a fan for generating an airflow across the heat exchanger and a thermal battery. The heat pipe comprises at least one curvature and the thermal battery is coupled to the die plate and has a length and a width such that the thermal battery is in contact with the heat pipe from the die plate to a point past the at least one curvature. The thermal battery may be formed from a thermally conductive material, be a vapor chamber or otherwise facilitate heat transfer to a heat pipe from the die plate to a point past the curvature for improved cooling.

  • Patent number: 11592883
Abstract: Thermal management within an information handling system housing is provided by applying graphene paint to a support structure disposed within the housing, such as a battery casing that supports battery cells, a keyboard lattice that supports keyboard coupling to the housing and screws that attach components to the housing. The graphene paint may have different concentrations of graphene and/or different thicknesses so that the thermal characteristics of the support structure adapt to thermal generation within the housing, such as to keep an even distribution of temperatures within the housing.

  • Patent number: 11435235
Abstract: A portable information handling system has dynamic foot disposed at a bottom surface of a housing that extends and retracts to adjust cooling airflow impedance at vents disposed at the bottom surface. The dynamic foot includes an actuator in an internal cavity having opposing ramp structures interfaced by a nickel titanium wire that changes phase when heated to move the ramp structures. In the example embodiment, a push-push lock engages and disengages the ramp structures at each activation of the nickel titanium wire so that an embedded controller controls foot extension and retraction by applying current to the nickel titanium wire that heats the wire based upon detection of predetermined thermal conditions in the housing.
