Abstract: A filtering device for removing contaminants from fluids, comprising a container having an interior chamber with a volume, at least one inlet, at least one outlet and at least one substantially non-granular material adhering outlet filter and at least one type of granular material occupying about 20 percent to about 67 percent of the volume of the container, the granular materials being agitated by the fluid entering the chamber through the inlet and exiting the chamber through the outlet with the outlet filter preventing the granular media from escaping the container, whereby the contaminants being removed from the fluid by the fluid agitating the granular materials and the contaminants are kept within the outlet screen.

Abstract: A coupling, which has a longitudinal bore for fluids to pass through, for connecting a tube to a pair of fittings that can be tightened and loosened with a wrenching tool, including a nipple positioned at one end of the coupling; a first threaded mating portion positioned at an opposite end of the coupling; a second threaded mating portion positioned adjacent the nipple; a wrenching portion disposed on the coupling having a front end and a rear end and extending above the first threaded mating portion with the wrenching portion rear end including a shoulder extending below the wrenching portion front end; and, whereby the first threaded mating portion engages one of a pair of fittings and the second mating portion engages the other of a pair of fittings.

Abstract: A method of treating fluid to reduce the concentration of undesirable materials such as metals, halogens and bacteria through the use of alloys of three or more inorganic elements which will give rise to three or more different redox potentials so as to cause simultaneously the removal of plural contaminants in a single operation.
