  • Publication number: 20190313289
Abstract: A method of managing default QoS rules for PDU session is proposed. A PDU session defines the association between the UE and the data network that provides a PDU connectivity service. Each PDU session is identified by a PDU session ID, and may include multiple QoS flows and QoS rules. There can be more than one QoS rule associated with the same QoS flow. A default QoS rule is required to be sent to the UE for every PDU session establishment and it is associated with a QoS flow. Within a PDU session, there should be one and only one default QoS rule. In one novel aspect, UE behavior and error handling for proper QoS rule management is defined for PDU session establishment and modification procedures to enforce the one and only one default QoS rule policy.

  • Publication number: 20190313276
Abstract: A method of defining ATtention (AT) commands for 5G session management operations is proposed. In one example, the AT command can be a set command for configuring a PDU session establishment procedure. Additional 5G parameters including PDU session ID, Single-Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI), Service and Session Continuity (SSC) mode, access type, and Reflective QoS (RQ) indication are defined for AT command +CGDCONT to configure the PDU session. In another example, the AT command can be a read command for querying PDU session and QoS flow parameters. Additional 5G parameters including PDU session ID (PSI), QoS flow ID (QFI), S-NASSI, SSC mode, access type, and RQ timer are defined for AT command +CGCONTRDP or +CGSCONTRDP.

  • Patent number: 10117279
Abstract: A method of maintaining maximum number of bearers when maximum number of bearers reached is proposed. An enhanced SM/ESM procedure is proposed to synchronize between UE and network and to determine a precise maximum bearer number for protecting network resource and improving user experience. The UE determines the maximum bearer number based on a cause code contained in an SM reject message and updates the number under various network scenarios including system change.

  • Patent number: 9980310
Abstract: A method of enhanced session management procedure is proposed. A user equipment, upon receiving a rejected PDN connectivity request with a cause code, automatically alters the rejected factor to fit network restrictions based on the received cause code. The UE then retries the PDN connectivity procedure by sending a subsequent PDN connectivity request using the altered factor. By automatically altering the rejected factor and reattempting to establish an EPS bearer for data service without user interaction, possible permanent rejection can be avoided in case of user error or unawareness.

  • Patent number: 8982815
Abstract: A mobile communication device operating as a Mobile Terminal (MT) with multiple processor logics is provided. In the mobile communication device, a first processor logic is configured for sending an Activate PDP (Packet Data Protocol) Context Request message to a service network, a second processor logic is configured for receiving an Activate PDP Context Accept message indicating a PDP address from the service network, and a third processor logic is configured for indicating an interface identifier and a prefix obtained from the PDP address to a Terminal Equipment (TE), so that the TE constructs an IPv6 address based on the prefix and interface identifier.

  • Publication number: 20140169289
Abstract: The method and apparatus for accelerating connection establishment in a mobile communications system are provided. The method includes transmitting, by a user equipment, an Activate PDP Context Request to a network; determining whether the user equipment can be confirmed that the network received the Activate PDP Context Request by an lower layer; shortening a default timer value and retransmitting the Activate PDP Context Request to the network after the shortened default value if the lower layer does not confirm that the network received the Activate PDP Context Request; and preserving the default timer value if the lower layer confirms that the network received the Activate PDP Context Request.
