    Abstract: An image display device includes a display panel having pixels, and a signal compensate unit for receiving first, second and third image signals externally provided, and for generating a first compensate signal obtained from the first and second image signals. The signal compensate unit generates a second compensate signal obtained from the first compensate signal and the first and third image signals. The image display device also includes a data driver for receiving the second compensate signal from the signal compensate unit, and for generating data voltages corresponding to the second compensate signal to the pixels of the display panel.

The input dividing part divides an n-th frame datum into the most significant bit(s) of the n-th frame datum and the least significant bit(s) of the n-th frame datum. The storing part stores the most significant bit(s) of an (n?1)-th frame datum. The gray scale compensating part outputs the most significant bit(s) of an n-th frame compensated datum by using the most significant bit of the n-th frame datum and the most significant bit(s) of the (n?1)-th frame datum. The output synthesizing part synthesizes the most significant bit(s) of the n-th frame compensated datum and the least significant bit(s) of the n-th frame datum to output the n-th frame compensated datum.

    Abstract: A display device that employs fewer IC chips and lends itself to cost-efficient manufacturing is presented. The device includes: a plurality of pixel rows including first and second pixels alternately arranged; a plurality of first and second gate lines disposed above and below the pixel rows and applying first and second gate-on voltages to the first and the second pixels, respectively; data lines intersecting the first and the second gate lines, each data line disposed between the first and the second pixels in a pair of first and second pixels and applying data voltages to the first and the second pixels; first and second gate drivers applying the first and the second gate-on voltages to the first and the second gate lines; and a data driver applying the data voltages to the data lines, wherein the second gate-on voltage is applied earlier than the first gate-on voltages by a predetermined time.
