Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating pain relief utilizes ultrasound waves to generate heat in a body acupuncture meridian to relieve pain. The pain relief apparatus has a housing containing a transducer element, which transmits ultrasonic waves through one or more transmitting heads to a user's skin. A massaging portion is furthermore connected to the housing. The method allows a user to choose one or more body acupuncture meridians to treat with the pain relief device using a smartphone application, which then displays instructions to the user on how to effectively apply treatment. The smartphone application may furthermore be capable of controlling the functionality of the pain relief device.
