  • Publication number: 20240058512
Abstract: Improved devices and methods for the expression of milk from a breast are disclosed herein. A device for expressing breast milk may comprise a breast interface including a flange configured to engage a breast and fluidly seal thereagainst, and an actuatable assembly operably coupled to the breast interface and configured to apply vacuum pressure at the breast interface. The breast interface may be configured to apply anterior compression to an anterior portion of the breast when the actuatable assembly is actuated. The flange may be configured to apply posterior compression to a posterior portion of the breast when the actuatable assembly is actuated. The posterior compression can help improve the efficiency of milk expression by reducing the retrograde flow of milk.

  • Publication number: 20230181070
Abstract: A single unit bodily fluid collection and mixing device that is used for collecting a specified amount of bodily fluid, mixing the bodily fluid with a specified amount of solution, mixing the bodily fluid and solution in a contained volume to prevent contamination, and applying the resulting mixture to a lateral flow test surface. The unit is a single device, and does not require multiple pieces or systems to collect patient bodily fluid, measure out solution, combine the patient bodily fluid, and apply the mixture to a testing surface. Rather, the single unit already contains the desired amount of solution, a collection tube receives a specified amount of bodily fluid from a patient, and the single device can be used to mix the two fluids together.

  • Publication number: 20230084377
Abstract: Remote health services may be provided, for example, in real time, based on values of health metrics monitored remotely, and in some embodiments, continuously, for a recipient. The system may include a mobile health device configured to continually monitor or intermittently detect values of one or more health metrics. A mobile health device may be locally coupled to a recipient, and may include a health sensor that detects values of one or more health metrics of the recipient. Servers may be remotely coupled to the mobile health device and provide one or more health services based at least in part on health metric values detected by the health device. Providing the services may include determining health communication characteristics, and sending health communications from one or more servers to the mobile health device according to determined health communication characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20220133964
Abstract: An apparatus for biomimetic expression of breast milk can comprise a breast interface having an expandable membrane configured to mimic the geometry of an infant's mouth. Various regions of the expandable membrane may be configured to simulate the structure and/or function of various parts of an infant's mouth. The expandable membrane may comprise one or more of a distal sealing region configured to simulate the lips, a superior region configured to simulate the hard palate, an inferior protruding region configured to simulate the gums, an intermediate curved region configured to simulate the tongue, and one or more internal expansion regions configured to simulate the soft palate and the throat. The expandable membrane may have a varying thickness throughout the one or more various regions to enable movement of the regions similar to the movement of the corresponding regions of an infant's mouth during nursing.
