A formaldehyde-free first fleece having a thickness is secured to the front face of the core by powdered adhesive and a formaldehyde-free second fleece having a thickness is secured to the back face of the core by the aqueous binder, with the thickness of the first fleece being greater than the thickness of the second fleece. Paint is applied to the first fleece. The acoustical ceiling panel has formaldehyde emissions of below 8 ?g/m2/h of formaldehyde, preferably below 5 ?g/m2/h, most preferably below 3 ?g/m2/h, in accordance with ISO 16000 for testing aldehyde emissions.
