  • Publication number: 20250100516
Abstract: A wheel end assembly that comprises a spindle, a brake rotor, and a parking brake. The brake rotor is rotatable about an axis with respect to the spindle. The parking brake is radially disposed between the spindle and the brake rotor. The parking brake is operable to apply a brake torque to inhibit rotation of the brake rotor.

  • Patent number: 9010502
Abstract: A retaining formation defined on a brake lever of an air disc brake includes a push fit/snap fit connection for releasably securing a push rod to a brake lever. The retaining formation can include a pinned connection and a ball and socket joint, and a main axis of the pinned connection is coincident with a center of rotation of the ball and socket joint. The retaining formation can include a concave formation on one of the push rod and the brake lever and a corresponding convex formation on the other of the push rod and the brake lever. The concave formation at least partially surrounds the convex formation to prevent axial separation of the push rod and the brake lever. A method of assembling a brake subassembly includes the steps of assembling a push rod and a brake lever including a retaining formation such that at least a portion of the retaining formation deforms during assembly and resiles when the push rod is assembled to the brake lever to provide a snap fit connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 8820490
Abstract: A slack adjuster comprises a worm shaft that is configured to drive a worm gear adapted for coupling to a camshaft. An adjustment assembly receives slack adjustment input from a push rod and is configured to automatically rotate the worm shaft when brake slack exceeds a predetermined limit. The slack adjuster includes a manual adjuster that is moveable between a non-adjustment position where the manual adjuster is de-coupled from the worm shaft and a manual adjustment position where the manual adjuster is coupled to the worm shaft such that a position of the worm shaft can be manually adjusted as needed.

  • Publication number: 20130240308
Abstract: A slack adjuster comprises a worm gear configured to be coupled to a camshaft, a worm shaft in engagement with the worm gear, and a housing having a lever configured for connection to a brake chamber output rod. The housing includes an opening that receives the worm gear and a blind bore that receives the worm shaft. An adjustment assembly is installed within the blind bore and is coupled to the worm shaft. The adjustment assembly is configured to automatically rotate the worm shaft when brake slack exceeds a predetermined limit.
