  • Publication number: 20190102489
Abstract: Generating a template-driven schematic from a netlist of electronic circuits is disclosed. The template-driven schematic may be useful to generate a set of related circuits for a single overall design as well as allow for a common transfer mechanism between different Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. To assist in portability of designs, a common file format is disclosed based on a structured text file (e.g., XML). Further, in the disclosed approach, it is possible to not only place primitives but create custom symbols as well. In addition, primitives and symbols may be attached to models, simulation settings may be added, and routing of the circuit in a schematic may be completed. Associated devices and methods are disclosed as well.

  • Publication number: 20190079577
Abstract: A method includes obtaining a first waveform representing an output characteristic with respect to time of a switched-mode power supply. The method further includes removing a high frequency component from the first waveform to generate a modified waveform and determining a stable value of the modified waveform. The method further includes determining an operating parameter of the switched-mode power supply based on the modified waveform, the stable value, or a combination thereof. The one or parameter includes an overshoot value associated with the switched-mode power supply, an undershoot value associated with the switched-mode power supply, or a settling time associated with the switched-mode power supply. The method further includes outputting an indication of the parameter.

  • Publication number: 20170308636
Abstract: A computerized PCB coil circuit design system includes an input engine to receive PCB coil design parameters based on manufacturing rules including trace width and conductor thickness, to receive input parameters including LC sensor capacitance, coil shape, and number of coil layers, and to receive updates to any of the PCB coil design parameters or the input parameters. The system further includes a PCB coil solution generation engine to calculate output coil parameters including total inductance, sensor frequency, and Q factor as a function of the PCB coil design parameters and received input parameters, to graphically plot one selected output parameter as a function of one input parameter, and upon an update to one parameter selected from the parameters based on PCB manufacturing rule and input parameters, to recalculate the output coil parameters and to replot the one selected output coil parameter as a function of one input coil parameter.

  • Publication number: 20170024505
Abstract: A method for compensation network design in a power converter design system is provided that includes computing optimal values for compensation components in a compensation network based on a plurality of loop specifications comprising crossover frequency (Fco), phase margin (PM), Gain Margin (GM), and low frequency gain (LFG), and applying changes to a power converter design comprising the compensation network based on the optimal values.

  • Publication number: 20160253439
Abstract: A method for converting a circuit in a format of a first circuit simulation program to format of a second circuit simulation program includes identifying components in the circuit that are recognized by the second simulation program. Characteristics for components that are not recognized by the second simulation program are created. Connections in the circuit are formatted to a format that is recognized by the second simulation program. The components, characteristics, and connections are stored in a single computer-readable file.

  • Publication number: 20160253446
Abstract: A system and method for web-based interface design tool is provided. The design tool enables system designers to quickly and independently design a custom serial-link interface. The system provides interface selection and signal integrity analysis. An interface selection may interact with system designers to prompt for a set of selection criteria such as data-rate, supply rail, standard protocol, and intended application. An intelligent search engine screens through a large interface products database based on the selection criteria and provides designers with a list of devices that potentially meet the design criteria. The performance of the custom system with the selected device can be evaluated by using a web-based IBIS-AMI standard-compliant signal integrity simulator. A designers can have options to manually fine tune selected devices' parameters to iterate through different settings to determine the robustness of the solution.
