  • Patent number: 11856536
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for analyzing management frames for multiple basic service sets (BSSs). In one aspect, a wireless node may obtain a first management frame from a wireless local area network (WLAN) apparatus, the WLAN apparatus operating multiple virtual access points (VAPs) respectively corresponding to multiple BSSs. The wireless node may determine whether the first management frame includes a BSS profile of a BSS associated with the wireless node based, at least in part, on an arrangement of a plurality of BSS profiles within one or more management frames. The wireless node may determine to further process the first management frame based, at least in part, on a determination that the first management frame includes the BSS profile of the BSS associated with the wireless node.

  • Patent number: 10952139
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, an apparatus is configured to receive information indicating a wake time period from a STA and use the received wake time period to schedule communication with the STA. The apparatus may use the received wake time period to determine a target transmission time for transmitting a trigger frame to the STA. The apparatus may transmit a beacon to the STA and then transmit the trigger frame to the STA at the target transmission time following the beacon. The apparatus may also indicate an offset from the beacon that the apparatus will use for communication with the STA based on the wake time period of the STA.

  • Publication number: 20190253968
Abstract: Various aspects provide a wireless station (STA) to implement congestion sensitive target wake time (TWT) communications scheduling and enable the STA to determine whether to engage in communications between TWT service periods. A method described includes identifying a congestion metric, determining whether the congestion metric meets a congestion threshold, and transmitting a request to establish TWT communications in response to determining that the congestion metric meets the congestion threshold. Another method described includes terminating a scheduled service period of a TWT communications, receiving an indication that a threshold number of frames is available for transmission to an STA from an access point (AP) or an indication that one or more frames are present in a transmission queue at the STA, and transmitting, by the STA to the AP an indication that a communications link is to remain active between the terminated scheduled service period and a subsequent scheduled service period.

  • Publication number: 20190082382
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, and methods for providing adaptive discovery timing between wireless devices. A channel is identified for use by a wireless communication device. One or more channel conditions associated with the channel are determined. The system selects a value for a minimum wait time from multiple possible minimum time values based on the one or more channel conditions. In one example, the minimum wait time may represent the amount of time that the wireless communication device will wait before sending a probe request on the channel. In another example, the selected minimum wait time may represent the amount of time that the wireless communication device will remain on the channel after sending the probe request on the channel.

  • Publication number: 20190014003
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device (e.g., an access point or a station) capable of supporting multiple chain configuration modes may dynamically select a chain configuration mode via channel analysis and energy efficiency analysis. A wireless device may monitor traffic on a wireless channel using a first chain configuration mode. The wireless device may determine an energy value associated with monitoring the traffic using the first (e.g., single) chain configuration, and further determine or infer an energy value associated with monitoring the traffic using a second (e.g., multi) chain configuration. The wireless device may perform a channel metric computation on the traffic (e.g., perform a QR decomposition of a channel matrix associated with the monitored traffic). The wireless device may then switch or select a chain configuration mode for operation based on a comparison between the determined energy values and the channel metric computation.

  • Publication number: 20180284864
Abstract: A method for dynamic clock and voltage scaling (DCVS) in a central processing unit (CPU) subsystem of a wireless communication device. The method may be implemented by a DCVS controller of the wireless communication device. The DCVS controller monitors data packets communicated by the CPU subsystem over a wireless local area network (WLAN) and determines one or more metrics of the data packets communicated by the CPU subsystem. The DCVS controller then dynamically configures an operating frequency of one or more hardware resources of the CPU subsystem based at least in part on the one or more metrics. The one or more metrics may include, for example, a packet rate, payload size, aggregation factor, packet size, or number of descriptors associated with the data packets.

  • Patent number: 10028156
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A device may utilize enhanced roaming techniques to identify a candidate channel for roaming. In one example, a device determines whether a candidate channel is congested by calculating a congestion metric associated with traffic over the shared channel. In some examples, the congestion metric is calculated based at least in part on an amount of energy measured over the candidate. For instance, the calculated congestion metric can be an instantaneous congestion level measured during a CCA. The device may then determine whether to roam to the candidate channel based at least in part on the calculated congestion metric.
