Abstract: A method and a system for controlling a dynamic channel reconfiguration of an access facility in which a first bit stream is connected on a first channel to a second channel. A status associated with the first bit stream is queried. In response to the query, status information, which includes a configuration map status, is received for the first bit stream. The configuration map status for the first bit stream is then stored in a first memory area. A command is received for disconnecting the first bit stream on the first channel from the second channel, and the first channel is disconnected from the second channel. A set of parameters associated with the first channel are then groomed to match a set of parameters associated with the third channel. A command is received for connecting a second bit stream on the first channel to a third channel. A configuration status for the second bit stream is stored in a second memory area.
