  • Publication number: 20150382441
Abstract: A high power DC steam plasma torch system (S) includes a steam plasma torch assembly (1) wherein superheated steam (46) is used as the main plasma forming gas, thereby resulting in a very reactive steam plasma plume. The superheated steam (46) is injected internally directly into the plasma plume via a ceramic lined steam feed tube (25) for reducing condensation of steam before reaching the plasma plume. The superheated steam (46) flows through a gas vortex (16) which has tangentially drilled holes thereby resulting in a high speed gas swirl that minimizes electrode erosion. In the present steam plasma torch system (S), the plasma torch assembly (1) is ignited using an ignition contactor which is housed external to the plasma torch assembly (1). The superheated steam (46) is injected into the plasma plume using a water cooled steam vortex generator assembly (15).

  • Patent number: 8352723
Abstract: An autonomic computing system is automatically maintained in a steady state. The system has parameters, each of which has one or more threshold. The system may further have influencers, adjustment of which affects the parameters. A value of a first variable specifying how the parameters or influencers are changed once a decision has been made to change the parameters or influencers is received. A value of a second variable specifying how the system and the parameters are affected responsive to a change in the parameters is also received. Where influencers are present, a value of a third variable specifying whether the influencers are distinct or common is also received. One or more of the parameters or influencers are adjusted, based on the values of the first, second, and/or third variables, to return the parameters to more-normal (e.g., median) values.

  • Patent number: 7771510
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fixed bed hypersorber having moving ports for injecting and withdrawing fluids which can be used for fractionation of gaseous mixtures in a fixed bed filled with absorbents/adsorbents, where separation is brought about by contacting gaseous mixture in a counter-current fashion. The moving ports may take the form of pistons or pairs of tubes arranged concentrically, where one of the tubes has a straight slot and the other tube has a helical slot. Rotation of the tubes with respect to each other produces the moving port.

  • Patent number: 7693134
Abstract: The invention comprises a method and apparatus for providing multimedia content to a calling party device. Specifically, the method comprises receiving a connection establishment request from a calling party device where the connection establishment request is operable for establishing a connection between the calling party device and a called party device in an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network, obtaining multimedia content information in response to the connection establishment request where the multimedia content information is operable for establishing at least one multimedia session with the calling party device, and transmitting at least a portion of the multimedia content information towards the calling party device contemporaneously with establishment of the connection.

  • Patent number: 6978133
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing wireless intelligent network services to mobile stations currently being served by a mobile switching center (S-MSC) that is not wireless intelligent network capable. The call is routed through a wireless intelligent network capable MSC (O-MSC). When the O-MSC receives the call, it requests instructions from a service control point (SCP) which provides a list of triggers for call states requiring further SCP instructions. Advantageously, this arrangement avoids the use of a double connection, using a loop-around trunk, in the O-MSC, as is required in the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6725437
Abstract: The present invention provides Performance groups based Simulated Annealing (PGSA) for VLSI circuit placement. This method reduces the computation time required for VLSI circuit placement using Simulated Annealing by reducing the size of the placement problem by forming Performance groups while maintaining a high quality of the final placement solution. Performance groups are formed by picking circuits connected by a net and counting their local-net-count. These circuits are then grouped based on certain pre-determined conditions and placed suitably using simulated annealing based placement approach.

  • Patent number: 6490450
Abstract: A system and method for capturing and modifying roaming mobile subscriber information such as Serving MSCID, cell and sector location information, original dialed digits, subscriber profile and return address point code in support of service applications, such as wireless prepaid service for roaming subscribers. A network platform is inserted into the signaling path between a roaming subscriber's HLR and all Serving MSCs. The network platform intercepts messages exchanged between the roaming subscriber's Serving MSC and HLR, and extracts and stores information such as Serving MSCID, cell and sector data. The network platform may also modify the exchanged messages in support of service applications.

  • Patent number: 5898917
Abstract: Enhanced services are accessed from an enhanced services network element of a cellular radio telecommunications system using a cellular carrier specific code (#CCSC) string based office-level trigger and IS-41 messaging protocol message types. The invention takes advantage of the #CCSC standard to define MSC office-based trigger criteria wherein the dialed digits must start with the "#" character. When a call is received by the MSC in which the digits dialed start with "#" followed by a digit sequence, and an office-based trigger is provisioned for the "#" sequence dialed, the MSC suspends call processing and a service query message is generated and sent to the SCP of the requested enhanced service. The SCP then sends a response message back to the MSC, which resumes call processing in accordance with the response from the SCP.

  • Patent number: 4514653
Abstract: A commutatorless DC machine has axially oriented magnetic flux in the air gaps between interleaved stator and rotor disks, and the rotor disks carry one or more radially oriented armature winding elements consisting of electrical conductors serially interconnected in serpentine fashion and terminated at a pair of slip rings. The magnetic flux incident upon the two opposed planar surfaces of any one rotor disk are oppositely directed, producing electromotive forces or torques which are directly additive, resulting in heretofore unrealized electromechanical transducer action. A number of illustrative and preferred embodiments describe single or multiple rotor disk configurations, and further describe armature winding arrangements having various numbers of individual armature winding elements arranged in parallel between the slip rings.
