  • Patent number: 7646315
Abstract: A method and apparatus are for manipulating a keypad of an electronic device (100, 200). The electronic device has a plurality of tactile keys (110, 115, 1230, 125, 130). The method includes sensing a proximity of a object to one of the plurality of tactile keys and presenting, on an output (105, 205, 225) of the electronic device, a preview (410, 420, 515, 520, 615, 620, 710, 715, 810, 815) of an action that will take place upon pressing the one of the plurality of tactile keys.

  • Publication number: 20080126490
Abstract: A method (400) and an apparatus (600) for presenting information concerning a set of incoming communications includes determining and storing (405) data associated with each incoming communication of the set of incoming communications, identifying (410) a subset of communications-by-type from the set of incoming communications, determining (415) subsets of communications-by-originator from the subset of communications-by-type, determining for the subset of communications-by-type (420) a relative priority of the subsets of communications-by-originator, and presenting (425) information concerning the incoming communications of the subsets of communications-by-originator in an order determined by the relative priority.

  • Publication number: 20050027523
Abstract: A spoken language system (100) includes a recognition component (120) that generates (220) a recognized sequence of words from a sequence of received spoken words, and assigns (225) a confidence score to each word in the recognized sequence of words. A presentation component (140) of the spoken language system adjusts (240) nominal acoustical properties of words in a presentation (142) of the recognized sequence of words, the adjustment performed according to the confidence score of each word. The adjustments include adjustments to acoustical features and acoustical contexts of words and groups of words in the presented sequence of words. The presentation component presents (245) the adjusted sequence of words.

  • Publication number: 20040095311
Abstract: A body part position detector 12 (or detectors) provides information regarding the position of a predetermined body part to a virtual image tactile-entry information interface generator 12. The latter constructs a virtual image of the information interface that is proximal to the body part and that is appropriately scaled and oriented to match a viewer's point of view with respect to the body part. A display 13 then provides the image to the viewer. By providing the image of the information interface in close proximity to the body part, the viewer will experience an appropriate haptic sensation upon interacting with the virtual image.

  • Patent number: 5923330
Abstract: A method and system for generating an interactive, multi-resolution presentation space of information structures within a computer enabling a user to navigate and interact with the information. The presentation space is hierarchically structured into a tree of nested visualization elements. A visual display is generated for the user which has a plurality of iconic representations and visual features corresponding to the visualization elements and the parameters defined for each visualization element. The user is allowed to interact in the presentation space through a point of view or avatar. The viewing resolution of the avatar is varied depending on the position of the avatar relative to a visualization element. Culling and pruning of the presentation space is performed depending on the size of a visualization element and its distance from the avatar.
